Bye, Bye BMW 545 Hello MB E350

Well after two 545’s in the last 10 months…I am now happily behind the wheel of an E350.

First 545 had bad paint and the dealer took it back…second time around after logging 9500 miles in 8 months the car had been in the shop 37 days for 14 different items (ranging from squeaks and rattles to a new gas tank, steering rack, a tranny that would slam into gear…and a horn that would honk when the car went in reverse) / Even with all that it was going to be a real fight to get BMW to take the car back…so with full-disclosure I sold the car to someone that didn’t seem to mind. I don’t think my problems are typical for BMW…so Im not bashing the brand…but for me personally I’m done

My new car (picked it up 3 days ago)

Welcome to MB World!! I think you will really enjoy your car and the forums, based on my own experience. I too am a previous BMW 5 series owner. The E350 may not be a V8, but it has plenty of power and a very comfortable ride, plus it gets pretty good gas mileage for a car of its weight and size. I also like the interior and exterior design better on the E compared to the BMW. Don't forget to add your city, state, country to your profile.

The E350 is a great car, welcome to the MB world.. They say BMW is the best handling car... that's true at lower speed... but wait till you drive one of these E's at over 100... solid as a rock!

So true, only did it on a very open, empty stretch of Interstate 5, but it feels very solid and in control!

Nice decision...and not the first to make the switch from a 5-series....will never buy another BMW again.

I think you will find the seats more comfortable in your new MB. My wife and I have ridden and test drove several BMW 5 series in past and always feel a bit too "squished" by the bucket seats in the front. My daughter had a hot BMW 5 sport with the V-8 and she got rid of it after 18 months because of it's rough ride and uncomfortable seats.

I've driven 1100 miles by myself in one day in our E-500 and find it very comfortable on long trips as well as around town.
