2005 E320 CDI
My E320 CDI Observations

I am new to the forum and just wanted to share my experiences with my 2005 E320 CDI. Overall I am very happy with the car. The power on the highway is amazing..all that torque right where you need it. I have 38,000 miles with no issues whatsoever and according to the computer have averaged 34MPG over those miles. I drove it from Houston to Las Vegas on one trip cruising sometimes at 100mph through the desert for hours on end...amazing effortless cruising. It tops out at 135mph. I am obviously putting way more miles on it than others because the dealer had to call Germany to release the fuel filter. They were not in the US system yet. I have just about every option, phone, nav, drive dynamic seats, Zenon headlamps, voice activation and harmon kardon. If I had to do it over again I probably would skip the voice activation. I wish the US cars could get the 17" wheels but with the miles I drive the sport tires would go quickly$$$$. I also wish someone on this forum would show with pictures how to change the oil in this thing because I am not still not sure if I am comfortable with the 13000 mile interval.

Well, glad to hear it!

I am going to post these pics in their own thread for other members to see, but if you want to see a CDI with 17's, I just put these on and I LOVE THEM... WORTH THE MONEY IF YOU CAN SPARE IT! Huge difference in how it handles!

BTW.. I changed my oil at 1000 miles, then again at 3000 miles, and now will do it again at 6500, then 13000, 19500, etc.. I use only Mobil 1 DELVAC (diesel oil).. don't follow that BS 13000 interval.. not if you want to drive that car to 300,000 miles one day..

wheels...

nice 17"ers... looks great with that body color. Might want to shine up those tires to make it stand out a lil bit more.

wow, 35k miles already on an '05 CDI... that's alot of piloting in such short time.

Any one of you guys had you E320CDI's nail yet like older diesels? Maybe when on a cold startup and on an unfortuante tank of bad fuel?

Granted, it's been quite warm here in Phoenix, but my car turns over just like a gas car and starts... I've never waited even 1 second for the coil symbol to go out..

The CDI is a whole new type of diesel... almost as different from a traditional diesel as a gas engine is.

Nice to hear. I always toy with the notion of moving up to an S430 one day, but the power of this new diesel just does so much more for me : -) And the mileage, ahhhhhhhhhh

Hey CE750, I love the pic of your wife wondering what the hell you are doing! I was taking pics of mine over the weekend, my wife opened the door, saw me, shook her head, and closed the door.

Thank you. I got in August of 2004 so just over a year ago. It looks like I will be the high mileage tester for the forum.

Nice pics!! I take it you are changing your oil yourself ? If so I would like to learn from you how you do it. I change the oil in my wifes Corvette and our Yukon and it drives me nuts that I have not been doing it for the CDI. I suppose I need to get one of those topsiders or pumps. I guess I could change it at half normal intervals and then let the dealership reset the computer ? What do you guys think ?
