Burning Man started out as hard-core countercultural, but it's almost establishment now ... look for corporate sponsorship by Apple and Anheuser-Busch any year now. Smearing paint (water-based, no doubt) on a W211 and heading out to convort with the freakoisie is almost a parody of upper-income slumming. Maybe that was the idea; Burning Man is very much about parody.
