E350 (952 sport package) and Porsche Cayenne which one you will choice?
In Taiwan, The E350 (sport package) price is the same as Porsche Cayenne (3.2 liter 250HP) NT3,570,000 around USD 108,000. I ordered E350 sport package, and it will arrive next week, but i went to the Porsche dealer last week, the Cayenne also good to have it. Should I change the order to Cayenne?

Mercedes all the way!
no - the cayenne is slow and ugly. i've a friend with a cayenne turbo who raced against a C230 in a straight line - he lost (i'm not sure if the C was modified, but even so...). and the cayenne only has 40% Porsche parts - the rest is shared with VW. so if you want a porsche, it's not the right one to get unless you must have an SUV.

S, GL, Escalade ESV, my shoes
It's pretty cheap there. In Vietnam, an W211 E240 (240 !!!) cost USD 128K, and the E280 goes for $140K. They don't even sell the E350 there.

I can barely keep up with my friend's genuine Cayenne Turbo with my E500, let along a C230..............

was '03 E320 - now - '04 S4
I had a chance to get some time behind the wheel of a Cayenne S on a fishing trip. Nice interior. Felt pretty slow with three guys and our gear though.
I can only imagine that the V6 Cayenne must really be slooooow since they weigh 5000+ pounds!

Second, what option package the Cayenne have? Porsche has very long and expansive option list. They adds up very quick.
Third, also consider after sale service. You will probably find more service shop for MB than Porsche in Taiwan.

0-100: cayenne turbo - 5.6 sec. c230k - 8.2 sec (both manufacturer's figures) but we know Mercedes is usually conservative. still, the cayenne should have around 2 seconds advantage.
my friend's was definitely a Turbo. so the only thing i can think of is that the tropics somehow degrades the Turbo's performance - or perhaps he hasn't maintained it well. or maybe (yeah, now that i think about it) his passengers weren't exactly the leanest possible lol :p but that was what happened that day.
anyway, off-topic wayne: decision made yet?

1.Thanks for your thought, but for me, they are apple to apple, becoz price is the same, and I like them both. 2. You are right, the Porsche showed me a long option list, and adds up very quick. 3. You are right again, the MB more service shop than Porsche here, but it is not the point here, both of their sales are good service, just a call, they will arrange someone to pick up your car to maintain it, you don't really need to go the work shop. And in fact, i hope the really good car no need spend too much time in the service shop.
My current car is W210, so the Cayenne for me is a new driving feeling, but the performance is really too bad (0~100KM 9.1 Sec.), you can just slooooow show your car in downtown, and do nothing on the freeway. So, i will wait my E350 sport package delivery next week, and make more $$$ to buy the Cayenne Turbo.
