Can the interval between services go up as a result of calm driving?
Yesterday, I noticed something weird. I was taking people out to dinner and drove calmer than I normally would, mainly on the freeway. I noticed that the service intervall jumped up from about 2000 miles to 2160 miles after about 50 miles of this kind of driving. Is this possible?

I can't write from specific knowledge of how the system (FSS?) operates, but what you report is consistent with my general understanding of it. It considers several variable factors such as engine load and RPM in addition to distance travelled in projecting the distance to the next service. So, if you had (hypothetically, of course) driven down the interval by a stint of agressive driving, a period of cruising might raise the interval back up. It's sort of like how your projected fuel range (distance to empty) can actually increase when you're going downhill.

I don't know if driving in a calm way actually makes a difference, but I do know that driving with a warm engine for longer periods of time makes the interval longer. I think that I read somewhere that if you drive with cold oil it will reduce the miles left on the FSS by 3 miles to every mile driven. But, if the oil is warm and the car is on the highway, it will only deduct about .7 miles per mile driven. I think it was something like that.
I paid for my service (just oil and filter change) at 5,000 miles. Immediately, the next service due jumped about 800 miles more because of the new oil, but then after driving it more I will be at a 14,000 miles interval. This means that I have gained about 1000 miles on the original FSS service. Now I am due for a service C and I will be bringing my car in for service when there is still 1,000 miles left on the FSS. I will also have this oil tested to make sure that the break in particles are out of the oil and then I will have no guilty conscience about leaving the oil in the car for about 13k miles.

My car is calling for Service C in a couple days. What does this include? This is my first service and my car never called for A or B. At first it said Service D and then it skipped a couple days and went to C. Anyway, just wanted to know what I have in store
