Leather or not

How an I tell if the car has full leather or part leather? I always thought that my car had full leather (bought second hand) until I read the posts on mbtex and now I am not so sure.

Leather interiors feature a gathered leather insert on each door panel, above the armrest. To me, the MB Tex is not as supple and of course, no leather scent in the cabin.

Don't you feel the "leather scent" fades after about a year and a half, and it just smells like..."car"?

If your window sticker says $1500 leather... you have full leather.. if not.. your rear seat is Vinyl, 100%..

99% of CDI's I've seen were Vinyl (mine included).

but the door panels are dead give away..

btw.. In the UK MB's tend to come "more loaded" so you may infact have it.

By the definitions (gathered on the door, price on the sticker), I should have full leather, but, it doesn't have any sort of "leather scent". The car is 21months, you'd think the scent would be strong.

In contrast, my Jag has a strong leather scent.

I sat in an E500 the other day, and then in an E320CDI, one w/ and one w/o "full leather" and I could smell no difference.

The leather you can smell is the AMG leather... now that's fine leather.

Mercedes all the way!
haha, i had the same feeling when i read this post. so many people enjoy going around smelling dead, tannin-soaked dead cow lol :p

hey, my W211 comes with CLOTH seats although it's supposedly at the top of the spec ladder (avantgarde). then again, it is the best cloth i've ever, ever, seen in a car i never really did like MB's leather: too rough for my tastes.

Well, it sounds like everyone is immensely satisfied with their decisions - vinyl, cloth, or leather. That's why they offer options!

For sure. My first car with leather was my G35 and I will never buy cloth again. I love the warm fuzzy feeling I get driving, wrapped up in a few cows.

“Leather Insert” seats are not 100% vinyl..…90% maybe, but definitely not 100%.

CE750 is correct, the rear seat is 100% vinyl. The front, seating surface inserts are the only thing that is leather.

Yup... that's what 90% of buyers were told at least...
