Thankfully, I was doing New Garmin Nuvi 2xx GPS testing on other forum. (east bound I-90 at 3:00AM in the morning, basically it is a long stretch in the middle of nowhere - kind of spooky since there wasn't a single car on the road.)

I reached 248 km/h (154 m/h) with our E 280 CDI (with 6 speed manual transmission
) and about 260 km/h (162 m/h) with a SLK 320.
- it's absolutely irresponsible.

BUT most of you are posting speeds on autobahn and Interstates.
how about 126mp on the West Side Highway NYC racing a BMW 540i from around the 90's hit 126 around the 80's and maintained between 100 and 126 all the way to to battery park.
yes, red lights and all. Not a pause. You stop, you lost. You made it to the southern tip first. you won.Though the most insane thing ever done-not to mention practically suicidal, my buddy promptly removed his S/S white face series Z Rolex Daytona whit White dial. Making that number 2 in my collection!
Was quite a gas wearing one on each wrist to work that monday.
Yeah, 130 or 160 is fast on a highway or track. But those of you in the know how ****ing fast that was!!

But i would race your ride on foot for that Roli...from Canal/WSH to the Lafayette on a sunny sat afternoon...
Oh and on the william floyd yesterday I hit 110mph, I can't believe how stable it was, felt like 75.
I think I have all of you beat for crazy- 128mph in a CHEVY AVALANCHE for several miles bouncing off my 'enhanced' speed limiter...
Oh, and you can see the curvature of the earth at that altitude-very cool.
(on the runway @ takeoff, 185 mph)
"the faster it goes, the faster it goes faster."
Edit : Fuel economy not an issue as taxpayers were footing the bill

was truly one of my greatest flying experiences ( along w/low altitude high speed and formation flying).
Definitely also a little older now, but still never tire of watching the Thunderbirds (2 women pilots now) and the Blue Angels.

I'm such an idiot.
On a side note, I couldn't believe how steady and planted the E felt at that speed. Pretty cool.
The Mustang...bout 143... same highway...
The Explorer... Rev limiter kicks in at 115...same highway...
constantly do this.... i think posted speed limit is 55....

130 in my 1998 528i
135 in my 2003 E500
135 in my cousins 2003 E500
160-161 in my cousins 2004 545i.
and the list goes on but i wasnt with them so heres the fastest ive went. and lets make it clear that these speeds were tested on clear ways.
