Mercedes: The future of E-Klasse und Co.
In 2006 the Mercedes E class shaken by high-class problems gets a facelift, in 2009 the successor is waiting. And because with the new edition nothing may go to the eye, a feast for the eyes must become from the successor.

Four eyes see more than two - and, therefore, Mercedes of this design philosophy with the model change remains loyal. But the optics are sharpened. These are no more ball eyes with which the E class looks in the serious field of the upper middle class, but more angularly seeming glass stones. This fits to the claim to become some adult one as up to now. The bicycle car increases by about 20 millimeters and provides in combination with an anew formed interior for a better space feeling. Now especially the footwell for back passengers should be bigger a shoe number.

Probably a real rendering. (Renderings do change over time. I believe that manufacturers ask publications to leak early drafts of new models to pick up on the opinions of net surfers & car nuts. Its free feedback befor a manufacturer has commited to a design, and changes are a mouse clisk away.) When you look at the pic, It looks like its a logical progression from the 210 to the 211 to the CLS to that new style. It also looks like it would fit with the Photo Shopped pix of the next E class seen elsewhere on this forum. It certainly will leave Lexus in the dust, style wise! (Again!) Couple that styling with dependable electronics, and it will be a runaway success.

If the question is, "is this an exact illustration of the MY 2010 E-Class, or is it a speculation of what it might look like, extrapolating from the CLS and the new S-Class?", the answer is pretty clearly, the latter. I don't know enough about the auto industry to know how far in advance car designs are locked in, but even if the W212 design has been locked in, its public release at this point would have to be an insider leak. That seems unlikely; what would be the motivation to spill? To encourage people to stop buying the W211 and wait for the W212? Unlikely.

However, the 2003 models in the "Pirelli-Kalendar Foto Show" appear, upon careful examination, to be authentic.

I love the look!!! So much sleeker, but I wonder what the interior would look like. If the W212 will look anything like the pics floating around the internet.....then I'll more than likely sell my W211.

I'm sure it will be a nice car, but looking at the rear side the first thing that came to mind was "Hyundai Sonata"

The Huckfeldt conjectures (re)posted above are distinctly different from the Automotorundsport guesswork linked in the first post, especially around the rear and the wheel arches. That just goes to show that both sets of illustrations are magazine-selling speculation at this point.

It also kinda looks like the previous generation q45 like 97-98 I thought Mercedes' would always have the corregated tail light lenses so that muck and mud would not stick to the lens (this was a major safety feature that was touted)

Can't be real....seriously, Benz likes to keep the models at least slightly similiar.....anyone notice what is missing on those beautiful pics....no New S class truck fenders. It's too smooth....the lines. All kidding aside, it's too smooth, new vehicles are gonna have the truck fenders...trust me. The S would stick out like a sore thumb. Sorry.

It's already on the W212 leaks "new E will share the striking new fender flares that the incredible S class already sports" Striking new my a$$.
Ewwwwwww

Otto, if those pictures are close to the final 2009 E class I would say that MB will have created a very successful design. On the other hand if the S class "truck fenders" are added I think they will be losing a few potential customers. Thanks for the link.
