Gee guys..... With all those miles racked up on these E's aren't you getting worried about "catistrofic" falures??? I mean with all the crap I read here, I'm sure something is going to blow up any minute on those high milage cars.... L.O.L.

I'll probably come in last place; 2001 E320 with 3,200 miles. I have changed the oil three times though...

You're either a geezer, or you have a fleet of 12 cars.. Which is it?
If it's the former, forgive my lack of PC! My mom, who is 75 ad a 2000 C240 that we traded in for her in June for an E350, and it had 5100 miles on it.. so I understand.

I just priced a 7/100,000 extension on a car with that hypothetical milage from Warranty Direct for $3200 bumper to bumper.. are you thinking of extending it? How reliable has she been?

It has been very reliable. One of the best quality cars I have had. Only things I have had to do under warranty is I had the suspension update done to keep the car from pulling right and to get rid of the very slight vibration in the wheel. (Printed out stuff from this forum for the tech) They also did some type of Command system update after I mentioned the radio shut off once.
As for warranty, I have the MB extended 12/100,000. The issue is that it kicks in as soon as MB detects through their service record system that I go past 50,000 and then the 12 month time period starts. The way they sell these things it makes you think you have 5 years AND 100,000 miles coverage. The trick they play on you is they kick in as soon as you hit either 4 years OR 50,000 miles. See the difference ? Very confusing and you must read the fine print. I should have bought the 24 month 100,000 with the miles I drive. It would be hard for me to hit 100,000 in the next 12 months. I tried just recently to extend just in case but MB said no.
I would be very careful with third party extended warranties. They have a history of going out of business and leaving people high and dry. I will only buy the manufacturer extended warranties.

You have me thinking then. I assume I could also buy the Warranty Direct as I am under 50K and 4 years ? Is that their requirement ? Does the Warranty Direct cover the electronics such as the Command system? MB's extended does not.

Why, you've got one already, no?
but yes, the warranty requires you to be "still under the Factory warranty" and then they'll need no inspection, and the price is fixed.
True bumper to bumper, covers all the same crap as the MB..
What's wrong with your MB one? for $1500 I'll buy one today

Because I am basically at the 50,000 miles it will only last another 12 months. I will never get the 100,000 miles out of it unless I drive 50,000 miles this year. That was my earlier point. The fine print on the MB extended warranty makes it not such a great deal in my eyes. The way they sell these it just makes you think you have 5 years AND emphasis on AND 100,000 miles of coverage. My goal was to just get 100,000 miles coverage which means I should have bought the 24 month/100,000 extension with the type of miles I drive. I did not expect the extension to start so soon. It was positioned to me that the 12month/100,000 mile warranty would carry me for the 100,000 miles. Once I received the final contract I realized I had made a mistake and would get more like 75,000 miles out because of the wording that kicks in the 12 month time period right when you hit 50,000 mile as detected by Mercedes Service computer at the dealership. The only way I can save myself and get the 100,000 miles out of my situation is to not return to the dealership until I have a major repair because that way they will not know when I actually hit 50,000 miles. Very confusing.
