Reset computer for service
My nearest dealer is a 120 mile trip and takes and entire day just for oil changes. (they do give good service but the travel and location is really difficult)
I have been servicing a fleet of vehicles for the last 30 years and the E500 should not be an issue. But how is the On board computer reset when doing service. Is the $20,000 computer needed or can it be done with out the computer. Thanks in advance.. Jim

Resetting the FSS system.......
.... is discussed in the owner's manual with enough detail for you to check what service items are scheduled, resetting, etc. You don't need the "$20000" Star Diags system.

FSS reset
I just reset the service counter today when I changed the oil.
1) Turn ignition switch to position one.
2) Press reset button on dashboard three times.
3) Voltage will display on dash screen.
4) Press down arrow key on steering wheel.
5) Use +/- and page up down buttons to navigate the menu until you find the confirmation selection.
6) Start the engine and you should see a message about reading the data.
If you succeed at resetting the FSS counter the next service should be in 13000 miles. If you just change the oil and don't do the other services, you can choose to confirm only that service.
