Important information to help you understand your Mercedes-Benz
W211 Recalls!
could you check for us if there is a recall for defective "Crankshaft Position Sensor"? I can remember that I read something somewhere but I'm not sure if it was for the M113 and/or M112 engines as well.
Your input is much appreciated as usual.
Thank you.
He took mine in and had it done for free. He told me they will replace the SBC brake for free if your car has less than 100K miles on it. After that, you're on your own.
And as for the "crank shaft sensor", it must be a very common issue. I had the same problem also, and my tech was able to diagnose i over the phone, just from a few words from me.
I hope this helps for guys with more than the 60K & 80K miles I DID notice on the first page of this thread.
i actually had mine fix for the 2nd time 3 months ago and the 10 years warranty expired two days ago but the car is having the SBC problem again. the dealer is telling that if it is the SBC again the part will not be cover since its out of the 10 years warranty and told me since i didn't pay for the new replacement SBC unit it doesn't have the 1 year warranty of the replacement SBC unit. i found it hard to believe.. is anyone here can confirm this?
not saying they are doing it but basically the dealership can just clear the code/errors and tell us that the car is fix and after few weeks the car show the code/errors again and keep repeating till the car is out of warranty and we have to pay for it ourselves. Either way the dealers are getting the money from MB and the customers. they have nothing to lose..also what if the replacement SBC units is really defected it? the manufacture or MB won't cover it?
any help or who i can contact in regards of this matter will be greatly appreciated.
P2068: fault is stored in component N15/3 (ETC[EGS] Control units. (P0720)
P2036-004: No or incorrect CAN message from control unit N47-5 (ESP control unit) communication fault/ see also CAN status in freeze frame data (P0600)
ETC: P2310: one or more messages from control unit n47-5 (ESP, SPS[PML] and BAS control unit) are not available on the CAN bus ( CAN timeout fault)
ESM: P1876 the signals sent by control unit n47-5 (ESP control unit) for the wheel speeds and the braking torque are not available on the CAN bus.
p2042: the brake signal from control unit N4705(ESP control unit) is not available on the CAN
bus.
SBC: C24DD: Fault in CAN communication with control unit N47-5 (ESP control unit.)
are those codes indicate the SBC needs to be reset? or is it something wrong with the ESP control unit or the sensor like brake light switch or wheel speed sensor?

- Remedy all fault codes
- Check fuel mixture values
- Check transmission adaptation values
- Validate fuel quality (octane, brand)
- Check for potential sources of humming/vibration (LI35.31-P-056961)
- Relieve stress on powertrain (LI22.10-P-056910)
- Check that there is no unmetered air entering engine
I just had the big SBC failure as the car basically shutdown as I was going 70mph down the highway. Putting the brake to the floor did nothing, good there was not much traffic.
The red warning lit up, said brake failure, go to workshop etc
Then it also said ESP Defective, to top things off.
I finally rolled to a stop and restarted the car, everything was then OK, as I dropped it off at the dealer who sold it.
My question is whether there is a log within the car system that recorded the brake failure message or does dealer have a way out?
I talked to the dealer before and I believe they will honor the SBC warranty, just do not want them to wiggle off the hook
Drive and enjoy it
