Important information to help you understand your Mercedes-Benz
W211 Recalls!
“If your vehicle has exceeded the original warranty coverage period and you have already paid to have any of the covered fuel tank components repaired or replaced for a warrantable condition you may be eligible to receive reimbursement under warranty extension. Reimbursement for your replacement costs may be obtained by presenting adequate documentation of those expenses to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.”; “Requests for reimbursement may include expenses for Mercedes-Benz replacement parts, labor, fees and taxes” – interpreted as simply provide shop invoice for repair performed.
You should be entitled to reimbursement.

Actually the sentence in the 4th paragraph that states "Reimbursement may be limited to the amount the repair would have cost if completed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer" answers my question.
Thanks again

I hope that the MB dealerships will not weasel out here in Canada.
Just a question.
Being a Canadian can I have my MB serviced (recalls!) in the US?
Thank you,

It might help to go to your dealer and have them do a PPI which is supposed to stand for a pre purchase inspection, but I guess in your case, it would be a post purchase inspection. When I bought mine, I did the same, it had a 60 day warranty from the dealer and the MB dealer found a couple items that I then had the dealer fix. There was also an active campaign to repair one item which they covered but it wasn't actually a recall so it didn't show up on the recall page. All recalls are covered by MB, doesn't matter who the original owner is.

"Somehow" dealers have the gift to present something like $8000 proposal on perfectly running car.
Yours coming from auction sure will have some problems.
Our Australian recall system does flag something to this effect but with nowhere near the detail one would hope for. The description is somewhat cryptic and limited in action. Seems MB Australia is a little coy in t heir willingness to own up to these problems. Any help or guidance would be sincerely appreciated.
