Extended Warranty....Did I get a good price?
I took my car in today for a complete lookover since I'm about 500 miles short of hitting 50k. I only had about an hour last night to do some homework on extended warranty's and I feel like I got a pretty good deal via the dealership today so I took it.
Here's the info:
2004 E500 49.4k miles Loc: California
4yr / 100k coverage for $3557 + $50 deduct
This was through MAP insurance which was through the dealership so obviously I don't have to deal with any headaches. This coverage is 100% identical to the Mercury Platinum plan which they also offer. This also covers the Nav.
From the short time I spent reading on here last night, I feel like I got a deal as good as it gets (I think). I got them down from 4k. Either way, I know I will definitely sleep better at night for another 50k miles.

They also list a California MBI coverage (they call it a "true bumper to bumper protection") at $3414 with $100 deductible, or $3,625 with zero deductible.
If your coverage is similar to Warranty Direct's California MBI, then I would say that the price you paid was OK. If it's less than this (and I think it is?), then I think you probably paid a little too much.
Word of advice: Extended Warranties offered through a dealer is normally not the best you can get for the money.
Revstriker, I had checked that same site as you the night before. All the top companies have the exact same full coverage...and all that you need to really check to compare them is to check what they don't cover. BTW, Continental just called me on the phone...these clowns quoted me $4400!!!! Ridiculous!
Sales person told me it would be pointless to buy the top of the line one, because how many times i'm really going to have an issue with my trimming or whtever else small issues could come up.

Something like a sunroof issue can add up to 1k very quickly. Even two really stupid repairs would add up to 1k. These dealerships charge ridiculous rates. I just really hope your "Major Care" coverage includes all your electronics.
But like I said, all in all, I'm really happy with what I got and I know I'll definitely sleep a lot better at night not having to worry.
