tezta, did u say that obs. blk would be hard to keep clean?? Is it the shiniest black..or is reg black shinier. We saw a clk 430 that was back. And that was very shiny. Then we saw a s500 with obs. blk it was dirty, but it wasnt that shiny?? why?

Actually i have never seen obsidian black up close. But since its metallic i would think that paint swirls would not appear compared to the standard matte black. I guess the standard black would have more shine than the metallic, i think.

MB in mb (matte black)

I have Obsidian Black on W210. I thought it would be like the Black Pearl I had on my W124 cabrio. Not, though. My W211 will be matte black.

Either way, it will be a b!tch to keep clean, to be sure.

yea, there are no swirls on the metallic paint. But up close it looks kinda wierd looking...like not tha black, more purple, but no one is going to go up to your car and look at it that close....thats why u give them a heart attack, and press the panic button...but i think if you wax your obs.blk it will look very very nice

Yeah, o.b. looks nice when waxed. I had the clay wax done. Sounded to me like something I'd have done at a spa, but it looked pretty good until it rained later that day

What about interior? I want saddle, dammit!

I think the Black Opal Metallic is a great color. Takes on a deep metallic blue color in the sun, looks more like true black in the evening and doesn't show the swirly patches. Unfortunately, all the very dark colors are hard to keep clean and for E's in 2003 Black Opal Metallic is a special order upcharge. That means that for and E320, taking into account the metallic charge and special order charge you are talking like an extra $2k!

I think the dark colors can look best when the car is sparkling clean. Since that would only be a minority of the time (realistically) in my case, I'm going with something lighter. I was going to get Brilliant Silver but the new Platinum Blue looks great and I see a ton of silver cars already. Aside from the Everest Green (are they even going to sell one of those?), wedgewood blue and bordeaux red, all the colors will look great.

jamesp, I saw a pewter slk with char interior at my dealer. It looked nice and i almost ordered that color combo but I ended up with stone because i liked the way it looked with the wood trim better. Hope we both like our choices when our cars arrive!

Wow, pewter is in the lead, followed by black then brilliant silver. I guess B silver wont be that popular after all.

I have seen many of the colors now, having been to the E Motion event and visited several dealers. I think the only ones I have not seen in person on the voting chart above are Platinum Blue and Midnight Blue. From the pix I have seen and the brochure, Platinum Blue looks terrific. Surprisingly, I actually like all of them for different reasons depending upon Sport versus non-Sport, for example (Brilliant Silver looks great with the Sport package). I do not usually like all colors on a particular car. So this has pleasantly surprised me.

I ordered Pewter/Stone. Rayscar, I do not know if you have seen the E in person in Pewter. It is a wonderful new color. I have no regret at all that I did not order Platinum Blue. Both seem to have this quality of looking very different at different angles, lighting, surroundings, etc. Do not worry, you will be very pleased with it I am sure!!!

Actually, my dealer has a loaded Capri blue Sport/Ash and it is really awesome looking. Capri blue is a bit much on the Sclass, but it looks perfect on the E. If it wasn't so hard to keep clean/maintain, it would have been a consideration.

Bordeaux Red/Stone Leather. I think that this color is beautiful. I do not know why Mercedes owners are ignoring it. It's so difficult to locate E-class in this color, so each time I need to order a car.

I guess you will select a color got less votes to be more distinctively looking. Please, do not pick mine, although we live in different states.

I have obsidian black and it really doesn't hide swirls any better IMO.
Swirls typically are most evident when there's relatively direct light, and in that kind of light any dark color shows swirls.
My E55 will be matte black/charcoal.

What color will you get your E? I wish they had the diamond silver for the E, like the SL500, or i belive its called something else for the S-class, like horizon blue.
E500 comes with a standard metalllic color so i wouln't want that to go to waste.
Does anyone have apic of the Capri blue color?
