cooling fan on all the time?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Ed
If it is too loud, you can adjust the fan on the console a couple down from the top setting and that will not sound as loud.
The reason it does that is to keep you, the owner of the car comfortable.
Mine does the same thing, so I think it's normal. When you stand outside, the car is EXTREMELY loud. My parents' Lexus is almost totally silent, so I am wondering why MB can't make it the same way.

Whenever the internal A/C controls are set so that the words "MAX COOL" are visible on the display, the radiator fan is turned on to its "airplane noise" speed/loudness. To achieve maximum cooling it is necessary to dump the most heat from the A/C condenser which is located in front of the radiator. That is done by drawing vast amounts of air over & thru the fins to pull the heat out of the A/C system refrigerant. If you dont pull all of the heat out & away from the coils the A/C will not cool the car interior. The interior heat from the car is absorbed by the A/C refrigerant & taken to the front of the car & must be dumped so that the refrigerant can go back into the car & pick up more heat.
By the way, ATS, I owe you this :
