More snivelers are driving E's??? Just kidding (not really)...... Its probably because there are more E's sold than all the other makes with SBS put together.
I for one love the system in my ride and have not had a single problem.....

Sure hope this don't turn to another biatch and moan session.....

I like the SBC in my 06'E55 also. Even though I only have 3800miles on my car but the brake is working great so far.

You can put me down as not liking it that much. I guess if I didn't drive in traffic everyday my opinion would be different. But on my car, the SBC is rather diffulcult to modulate in traffic.

I don't know.....I definately don't hate it but I wouldn't hate not having it either.

I wonder if they are dropping it for 2007 like the E and CLS did.

I understand that all the others will be keeping it as it is cost prohibitive to re-engineer the cars at present time.

SBC is going away in ALL models. It may return in the future. MB considers it a perception issue and not a safety issue. There is a secondary and tirtiary system. I have heard claims, but never a verified failure.

True. Only a few high-mileage German cab drivers ever got the system to outright fail and even they were able to stop the car, but at an increased distance. The system has been troublesome on the SL too, but with that group you won't hear about it nearly as much. The E is the bread and butter car bought by a lot of first time MB buyers hence the complaints.

But we've read of people on this Forum whos SBC equipped cars' brakes outright failed. Granted, not a lot of them, but all MB needs is a vacationing family to be wiped out due to a failure... It makes for bad press.

I'm there I would prefer not to have it. The E500 is the wife's car and it is her daily driver. She adapted and doesn't have any issues. But I drive the Corvette and Excursion both with conventional braking systems. I find it difficult to switch back to the MB after driving the other vehicles. My problem is applying the brakes, I expect them to hold quicker than they do which results in heavy last minute braking until I get use to them again. So my preference is go back to the conventional system. This doesn't mean they are bad brakes, I just don't like them, but they do stop. Jim

Actually I think at least one of them (preferably the driver who noticed the failure) will have to live to point out that the brakes failed. Otherwise no one might know... (just thought I'd point that out)
