my 05 CDI is a real corn burner

Decided to take a peak at the condition massive airfilter on my 05 CDI with 25K miles. Few screws & clips and what do I discover? pieces of whole corn a good 10-20 pieces. Yep looks like a mouse was hording some food and leaving it in the airfilter box for later, either that or some un-refined biodiesel. Suprised ity did not POP.

corn

Honest I did indeed find whole cornel pieces of corn. No other evidence. Not sure where the actuall intake is on the CDI ? The only other way would be if I were behind a grain truck dropping a harvest.

One thing I found intersesting on the CDI is the amount of sound insulation on just about every thing even a dense foam right on the injectors. Of coarse for sound but I'd think this will all help inthe winter to keep the engine warm when it sits for a while

Do you run biodiesel in your CDI? If so, what percentage and how has it been going for you?

Air Filter Replacement

Replaced the air filter on my wife's 05 CDI at 30,000 and found a bunch of Owens-Corning Pink insulation. Interesting, since this car is on the move each day. More mice.

air filter

I have not used any Bio yet would not mind if I can locate

Pink Isualation wow. You know I need to see where the pick up is for the intake? This is wierd that you found stuff in there too. Perhaps the air pick up is real low & wide and is like a vacuum ? Afterall the CDI uses a tremendous amount of air.

Just follow it....

Outlet of filter box goes to turbo. For the air box inlet, just follow it. I think it goes through/around/beside the radiator support and to the front just near the passenger headlamp.

Was there any decorative dry corn stored nearby in the garage or attic for seasonal use? Popcorn?
