Got the SBC replaced for free today
Here in Hong Kong I just got the SBC replaced fro free even my 2 years warrantee is expired, is there any extended warrantee on SBC in US too??
How do you guys like SBC? I really think it's a pain on MB's axx. No wonder MB stops using SBC on their new models .....

Very happy to hear they did the right thing for you. 
I personally disliked the groaning and the lousy pedal feel with SBC. It was one of the things that bothered me the most about the car.

There is no groaning on my 05. I like the precise feel and the quick response. Also like the wet weather quick response as the pads are closer to the rotors when its raining. I have no problem modulating the brakes at all and find them very smooth.

I can live with the groaning noise, and the pedal got some getting use to, but I really don't like the idea of the possibility of an SBC failure, where we're left with circa 1950 hydraulic braking technology for backup. Like others, I'm concerned about myself as well as my wife driving the car. For this reason only, I glad that MB decided to drop the SBC.

The reliability issue is a concern, since there's a lot more stuff to go wrong with SBC and apparently the backup system is less than greatly effective. Mine has been recalled and the entire SBC pump replaced, so I feel pretty bulletproof, but you never know, of course.
This must have been an enormously expensive system compared to the traditional vacuum-boosted hydraulic braking system we all know and love. I'd guess that played a huge part in its demise.

As far as you guys know, did this failed SBC kill or injure people before ? Last month I almost had a car accident by my failed SBC!!!
