Remote functions of key fob stopped working

One of my keys has stopped working. It still starts the car, but the remote lock, unlock and trunk pop features no longer work. Funnily enough, it is not the key I have been using every day for the past 3,5 years, but rather the "spare". Any idea of what this might be? Do I need new batteries?

The SmartKey and remote unlock are two seperate items. The Lock /Unlock is powered by the batteries in the remote, while the ignition unlock is by inductive energy from the lock. If you push and hold a button you should see a flash on the remote below and to the left of the panc button.
If you need new batteris they can be acessed by removing the metal key and sliding over a gray latch inside the opening, the rear portion will slide out (circuit board) batteris are there!

There’s a battery check lamp on the key’s surface that will briefly light up red when pressing any button.

I also have problem with one of my remote. I checked the battery check lamp and it lights up, but not always. Does this mean that the battery is running low or there is anything wrong with it?

If the check lamp is not consistently lighting I recommend changing the battery.

My SA told me that he will replace the key since it didn't look like a battery problem.

I am wondering if I am getting the new style key

If it doesn't work with new batteries, I guess you have the similar problem as me. If your vehicle is still under warranty, you should be able to get a new replacement key from your dealership for sure. However, you have '03 model, so it might not be the case.

I got the replacement key a couple of weeks ago. As expected, it's the new style one. Even though this looks quite fancy, I found it a bit heavy. In addition, I think it's very slippery, too.

Oh well, my wife likes it. I guess it doesn't really matter whether I like it or not

At least they didn't charge you for it!
