Brand New E350, satellite not working HELP!
Got my new E350 last week. I had the satellite set up right away and it has been working great for the past week. Today the signal cut out and it won't come back. The screen just says "Searching for signal." This just goes on and on. I have been trying for the past 5 hours. It was a bit cloudy today but I don't think that shoud have anything to do with it?
Any other thoughts or ideas? I called Sirius and they said they don't have an outage?

DTB P-B-82.85/444 APR05 Satellite Radio Improper Operation – “Acquiring Signal” is displayed for the entire ignition cycle after staring vehicle. If the part number of the current SDARS unit is A220 820 17 97 Q05 or lower replace, if higher contact the Enhanced Diagnostic Assistance Center (EDAC) for assistance. Satellite Radio Control Unit (USA) part # B6 783 0085.
Cannot imagine that the SRCU needs to be replaced in a brand new vehicle such as yours, nonetheless you should have it checked out by your dealer and mention this DTB.

The receiver is working. Its either the antenna, a cable, or another problem within the car. I doubt the car has the very old satellite receiver mentioned above, because the problem with those was that the display said "Searching For Signal" but the unit was playing Satellite radio at the same time. It just got hung up on that display... And even when the unit is NOT activated it receives the "Preview Channel", a 24/7 channel that runs a commercial for Sirius Activation. ... You need to "Visit Workshop"..

As I previously mentioned more than likely not the SDARS however, the DTB further instructs to contact the EDAC for assistance (short cut if you will) if need be. So given a worse case scenario if the repair is not simple contacting EDAC will shorten the time your vehicle is held in service.

"Hi this is EDAC, you have a 2007 E350 and the SDARS is not working?"
... yea, thats right.
"fault codes? no? part numbers of control modules in MOST system? software version of components in MOST system? hardware? blahblah blah? Did you ohm the cables? Did you try a new antenna? Ok well plug in a new module and see what happens..."
Fixed!
