I Ordered One

O.K., O.K. I can't take it any more.

After reading this thread, and also the link to the other thread, I ordered one today. I guess that will make me the 2nd E500? Anyhow, I'll post my findings when it is installed, probably in a week or so. This sounds like fun....
I'm looking forward to it.

A one armed, blind, web-fingered pygmy can install this thing in 5 minutes. Seriously, look at your gas pedal assembly. There is a plastic cap that you have to remove underneath the gas pedal. Then you need to remove the 10mm nut. After that, the whole friggin pedal assembly just comes out. Unplug the existing connector and plug the sprintbooster in-line with the original connector. It will only go in one way. You're a damn scientist, if you can't get this thing installed in NASCAR pitpstop speed, I'll lose all respect for you.

Good luck with it. I'm sure the E55's are going to be a bit unruly with this thing installed.

Do it, Newt....

At a couple hundred bucks it's like free. Plus if you don't like it, you can list it in the classified section and sell it in 10 minutes without losing much if any money. The C-Class guys swear by this thing are are buying them up like crazy.

I think I should get a 15% kickback from SLKFANS!!!!

Clayton,

Guess that the sprint booster turns the car into a very different animal or rather a beast.... This gadget is awesome from the day I installed it...Man, glad that you loved it...I will buy you a beer for sure when I am in the States ....

Take it easy on the gas pedal...I know many of us just can't resist to experience the instantaneous throttle response...

Haha, you've seen my packing skills. I've also been out of the lab for almost a year now, so I hope my "skillz" are still there. Sounds like a no brainer and no wire cutting, so I am in.

Also, although not trying to be a naysayer, I'd imagine on snow/ice covered roads your traction control will be coming on more often.
After about 400 miles on it on my E550, the on board computer tells me that my mileage is exactly the same. Granted when you first get the cable you keep wanting to drop the hammer to feel the difference. Soon enough though you get used to it and begin to drive more "normally".

I agree with most people, just set the car in "C" mode and there shouldn't be a problem. Or you have a 4Matic like me.

Got mine yesterday.. installed last night (10 minutes, tops!).. drove in to work this morning..

With all honesty, the car felt the way it should've when originally bought. Yes, the throttle response is quicker; but not so much as to be a hazzard - don't be afraid to install one of these puppies on your car.. it's not like the car is gonna jump when you hit the accelerator, it's just gonna do what its supposed to do - go - instead of the annoying "split second delay, then go".

I don't have a lead foot and usually drive my car very easy.. with the Sprintbooster my w211 just feels "better". As so frequently stated: it feels the way it should.

Jangy,

No wire cutting..its a cable the is plugged in series with your accellerator pedal. All good bro.. I recommend it... I wouldn't have spent 1k on a kleeman ECU if i had this in the first place.....

Jangy,

It will probably be the best 250 dollars spend on your E55.

It may be too soon for you to tell, but what is the effect on mpg? I am not saying that instant responsiveness may not be worth some penalty in mpg, but I am just curious.

It's gonna be worse at first just because you can't help yourself from playing with the gas pedal, it's addictive. As DDSKIER said, once the newness goes away, you'll drive like normal. He's seeing no loss in MPG yet. I'm seeing about 19.8 MPG on my E500. Really? Who cares? I mean, If I lose a 2-3 MPG, I could care less. It's a small price to pay for the instant response of the GO pedal. It's my belief that those that are worried about gas prices and MPG are people that shouldn't really be modding their cars. But that's just my opinion.

Any 0-60 and 1/4 mile time improvements. I'm sure 0-60ft times are probably improved and also WOT from a roll. Just curious. Looks like mine will be arriving on Monday...perfect timing right after our snow here in Chicago today.

Hmmmm,

I don't know. It certainly feels faster 0-60 but we all know that this thing does not add HP so it's hard for me to believe that you would see faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I would guess that you would see a faster jump on the rolling start races though due to the fact that the lag is completely gone.

Just installed it tonight and "WOW". Like everyone said, it feels like a different car. Unfortunately, I can't test the full potential as the pavement here is cold plus I have snow tires on. It beats the "Gimmick" bolt on mods that I was sucker into when I had my C5 (Throttle Body Bypass, Ported MAF, etc.) Thanks to Benz-O-Rama and ddskier for posting and Dean for the quick delivery.
