I drive E500.
Yeah so something is certainly wrong...I've had mine now for about 1.5 weeks and as everyone else has mentioned it is simply amazing and for sure the best money I've spent on my car / Perhaps go for an exchange? Sorry cant help on the prong issue mines installed and it would be a while before I could take it out / Good luck, but stick with it....its well worth it

Missing Prong

Here's a PIC. Left the car alone with my keys in my pocket hoping the "check engine" light goes away. Geez!

There should be no check engine light nor delayed response time. I'd send it back for an exchange. Plus that plastic peice should have not come apart like that.

Spoke with Dean and he says, "When the Check Engine light is on with the SB installed it means the unit is defective" I removed the forward plastic piece on the cable so that I could take a better PIC of the prongs. Yes there is a piece that covers the area. The "Check Engine" is off now after removing the SB and letting the car sit for abit.

Sent the SB unit back to Singapore. $70 with a discount via UPS. Dean said he would send a new one out ASAP. Had a chance to dissuss getting the auto vs manual SB for the E500. The manual SB will be more aggressive but will decrease the life of the tranny. He said stick with the auto SB for the E500. Okydokey.

They charged you to return a defective product and $70.00 to boot. hmm whatever happened to a RMA?

The lag seems have mysteriously returned. Maybe I installed it wrong?

I just installed mine in my 2005 E500. It really kicks in early. For me, it seems to downshift 2 gears pretty quickly. I'd say it feels like the car is floored with just a slight touch of the accelerator.

I did just buy it; the new model has different selections. I only tried RED (fastest).

I have some install pics, but they need to be touched up before posting (too dark).

Overall, I'd recommend if you are looking to spice up your ride.

I use the green setting most of the time. The red is too touchy.

Where did your put your selector? I don't want it to get tangled with the pedals?

I ran the wire along the side under the center console and double sticked the button right next to the chrome strip on the side of the console. I'll try to take some pics.

Hey Clayton,

didn't you chip tune your car with the online chip tuning system from Jerry@Eurocharged? I thought they eliminate the throttle delay with their tuning?

Can you confirm this info?

That looks really clean. Did the plastic pull back easily? I can't tell how hard to pull.

Not hard. I used a plastic putty knife to push it under an inch at a time.

This is such a great mod. I am very pleased with it. Given its price, I was skeptical as to whether or not it would do anything. Glad I went for it.

Yup, I got my ECU tuned by Eurocharged. The ECU tune and this thingamajiggy are apples and oranges though. The ECU tune adds real horsepower and real torque, removes the speed limiter and certainly decreases the throttle lag. The Sprintbooster increases the sensitivity to the throttle's potentiometer. In simple terms, when depressing the gas pedal 1/4 way down, it sends a signal to the ECU for 1/2 throttle. When you depress 1/2 way down, it sends a signal for wide open throttle. The car certainly feels much quicker, but it's really not.

I ended up selling mine after a year or so. Never had any issues with it, but my wife was having a hard time modulating the car's speed in bumper to bumper traffic. Keep in mind, I had the original version. Looks like there's been some improvement made on the original design that allows you to control the sensitivity.

Correct. Since I have my ECU tuned already I was looking for the removal of the throttle lag. Annoying as hell it is.

The Sprintbooster will do the trick for sure. Who tuned your ECU? What were your hp/tq gains?

I have an 03 E500 I'm really interested in the sprint booster but got a few concerns, does it cause any issues mechanically, any dislikes, how is mpg?, how will it effect my ECU, and my mileage is 110 will that be an issue? (car runs great though everything up to date) help!

No worries. The Sprint booster doesn't change anything mechanically on your engine. You won't gain any horsepower or any torque. All it does is eliminated the electronically controlled gas pedal lagging and that makes your car feel more responsive to the gas pedal input.
