Xenon Bulb Questions
Are the W211 Xenon's model DS2's or D2R's?
I started my car today and the passenger xenon bulb was pink. Car has only 50,000km/30,000 miles on it. I was under the impression these bulbs lasted a long time. Anyone know if these are covered under warranty?
The reason I am asking what model they are is that I think I would like to buy the bulb from somewhere else and try and put it in myself.
Anyone know a good place to buy them from online?
Also, has anyone here replaced them themselves? Have any tips or advice?

I had this discussion with the tech board and here about the std halogen bulbs. I just replaced the standard bulbs with upgrades BUT they were not HID. I can give you some knowledge about the general layout. The passenger side is more accessible and is fairly easy. Stick your hand down around the 3-4" circumference ring that has a rubber membrane over it. It is squishy. Turn it counterclockwise about 45 degrees and it will fall off into your hand. If it is stuck, a straightblade screwdriver and a light tap will dislodge it. The halogens are mounted in a bezel that engages a notched ring on the fixed headlight assembly. Push in and rotate ,CCW I think. The bulb and socket should fall into your hand. Once again I do not know about the socket / ignitors used in the HID. The drivers side is tighter. I unscrewed the splay type fastener that holds the top bracket of the overflow bottle. Pull the popped up screw / fastener out with pliers. This will let you shove the bottle out of your way slightly and repeat same as passenger side. Hope this helps

W211 uses D2S for the OEM Bi-Xenon.
I bought mine (Philips)from suvlights.com
You might want to do a search to find other website for better prices.

Went to the delaership Saturday, the advisor said they were under warranty. They gave me the car and they said they put 2 new bulbs in and then he says, "I am not sure if they are covered, if they aren't I will give you a call.."
I hope he doesn't call.. geez..
