What Brand of Tires Are Coming From The Factory on '07s?
All the 2007 NON SPORT Pkg cars I've seen have been coming with Michelin tires on them. What brand of tires have the Sport Pkg cars with staggered wheel set up been coming from the factory with?

On the 4WD Sports Package cars (all 4 tires/wheels the same size) I've seen Michelins come on them from the factory.

The few Michelins I have seen are not that great in the snow due to very little or no siping (spelling?) on the side tread. I don't care too much for the particular model of the continentals that my car came with (Eco Contact Plus), but I personally have had great luck with BFGs.
As far as snow tires go, my Bridgestone Blizzaks (on my W211) outperform my Michelin Artic Alpines (on my Audi) by a long shot.
I am starting to think that Michelin is riding on their reputation and that they are overpriced.

Actually, I believe that the Michelins wear like iron due to their harder than others' rubber compound, but that does affect wet road performance. The softer the rubber the more sticky... but the HARDER the rubber, the longer the tread life. ...And Michelin is still the only tire company that has never had a tire recall. ...At any rate, I have never used snow tires on my cars since the advent of Steel Belted radials. (Yeah, I was driving in the era of G 60 Series PolyGlass Goodyear White Lettered Tires!) Michelin All Season Radials have been good enough for me, since I don't risk my life to go out for pizza when its snowing out.
So I'm pretty sure my '07 won't have the Michelin's on them. Thanks all.

I bought a set of take off wheels from an '07 S550 Sport and it had Continental ContiSportContact 2 tires. I have only put around 500 miles on them, but they seem to be just fine for me. They don't feel any different than the Michelin's I had on before.

Mmmmkay...unless you convice your dealer to take a set of PS2s off an E63 AMG, you WILL be leaving your dealer without Michelins.
Michelin doesn't make an all-season tire in the proper size, and if they did, it wouldn't necessarily be superior to any other brand.

Yea, I don’t know of any recalls, but they were nice to me once and replaced all 4 tires on my old Audi 4000 Q, when one failed. It was nice of Michelin to pay for the replacement of all 4, but I think that they knew that they had a bad batch of tires.
As for the tire compound, I think that you are right. The Michelins are lasting forever and they do seem to be noisier and harder. Everything always has a tradeoff. The Blizzaks are great, they are holding up quite well, but they like to leave dust on my car (black dust that sticks on the paint).
I bought a set of BFG G-Force summer tires for the Audi (these are not all-season). They are the cheapest tire I have ever bought (I thought that I was going to sell the car so I did not care). I decided to keep the car and I am totally impressed with these tires. I am even contemplating buying a set for my W211 when the Contis wear out. I am used to buying expensive tires, so this is a new thing for me.

4 wheels
OEM tires in general are much harder and will have less grip compared to their non-OEM partners. For one a harder tire compound will have a lower rolling resistance yeilding in greater mpg.
Michelin makes a great product, as do many other companies. I also like Bridgestone and certain Pirelli models. But my money goes with Michelin and its Pilot line of tires.

Fellas, brand loyalty is fine, but generalizations regarding compound and tire brand cannot be made. Each model of tire within each brand has a different compound, and as MB Fanatic alluded to, often the OEM variants of a given model will have a different compound than 'aftermarket' versions.
Michelin makes some very soft tires. For example, the Porsche 997 GT3's OEM Michelin Pilot Sport Cups last 3-5,000 miles.
Check out tirerack.com for tire wear ratings...you'll find that Continental's are generally higher than Michelin's. When it comes to high performance, Michelins does have an edge...but most of us don't drive at 10/10ths on city streets.

I was thinking that as well.. Although not a real recall, it was kinda' funny.
My car came with Conti's on the Appearance package rims and Conti's on the AMG rims. I have replaced the Appearance package with Dunlop Winter Sport tires, amazing tires.
The AMG rims, have Conti 2's which are also great high speed tires.
I am thinking of going to PS2's although the Conti's have worked great and may just stick with them..

"Deal with" the Continentals? Why some of you swear by Michelins is beyond me...
