Bought the bluetooth part at Euro-Gtown today and it paired with the phone easily... That was the easy part... Phone sees the car as a headset and even tries to send all of the audio to it.

But the car doesn't recognize the phone and still says "Phone Not Installed" on the screen.. So I went back inside and almost no one had heard of version coding the radio. But it was late and all the techs had gone home... Gotta try and meet up with the shop foreman in the morning.. Hopefully it'll be a quick upgrade and then a working system...

Howdy! I'm about 24 hours into ownership of my E320 (my first Mercedes), and integrating a Bluetooth phone is first on my mod list.

I've read the thread and think I get it. Also saw mention of a puck-with-a-tail - is that a Bluetooth puck that alleviates the need for the V60 cradle? Is that available yet?

BTW this looks to be an awesome forum - I look forward to participating!

Welcome and congrats!

Yes, I believe the puck with tail thingy eliminates the need for the cradle. From what I can tell it's the V60 bluetooth puck with wires coming out of it which connect underneath the armrest where the cradle would usually connect. One of my issues with it, is it appears that thing thing just sits in your armrest flopping around when you drive. Not very clean looking IMO. I would do the cradle and puck. It's about the same price and is a true OEM solution.

Good luck either way.

Booya!!! After the software update at the dealer the phone works perfectly. The phone book took a minute to download but it's all there... Calls are nice and clear. :-)

One thing about your last post about the puck with tail flopping around in the armrest. The one I bought at the dealer came with a velcro backing so that you can stick it right onto the side wall and it won't be flopping around... Also in the box was a small black metal plate with 2 screws which I assume are there if you want to mount the puck in there permanently... Although I didn't spend much time trying that yet, b/c at first glance I couldn't tell how the plate was to attach to the puck.

Thanks for all your help Benz-O-Rama... You da man!!!

Well done. Glad I could help. Did you talk Charles? Who did the version coding, Jeff?

Another SUCCESS story, just got out of my MB dealer, they had no problems version coding. I gave them page 20 with the StarDiag instructions.

My SA even made a joke to the tech, saying im coming to work for them because I keep proving them all wrong... This forum rocks.!!!

Took them about 15 mins, everything works!!! Even my phonebook downloaded. I have a Blackberry 8703e...

Worth every penny, dealer charged 30mins labor for programming.

I love it!!!! and Yes I cannot believe MB was charging $2200 for this!

I bought an 08 E350 - do I need to buy the puck and have my system version coded? Or I am good with the puck only? I have an LG 8500.

TIA.

Sad to say, the puck with tail if only for us '03 and '04. I cannot speak for newer, as our cards had most of the stuff pre-wired.

I dont think thats the case with '08

My car is prep'd for hands free phone - I need to add a bluetooth module. So this puck is not the one for my car - does anyone know which module I need?

TIA

I ordered mine two weeks ago from oemparts, but since Jamie has left, that place has gone to hell. All of the parts are in, except the install hardware kit, which has been "on order" for two weeks. If I don't get it by the end of this week, I will probably try to order it somewhere else, since it's only a $3.40 bag of screws.

Wish me luck...

P.S. Has anyone installed the voice control kit? I know that it's not much of an upgrade really, but I wanted to be able to say I had it if I ever wanna upgrade again.

Finally decided to get my cradle, but when I went to install it, the connector on the console is not the same as the connector on the tail of the v60 holder, the connector on the tail is a regular phone type (actually a RJ45 like) and the one on the console is made for a harness. Did anyone run into this, or am I missing something?

I just got my car back after getting the BT installed. I'd be interested to know if the ring tone can be modified. It's not, how can I say, Mercedes-enough, for me. Or, wait a moment, does the ring tone come from the phone? I never thought of that before. Anyone know?

Finally got mine installed. I love it, its really great that it's automatic. Keeps me from having to put my headset on every time I get in the car, and I feel that I'm more attentive to the road this way for some reason. Prob my imagination. But anything is better than holding the phone to my ear. LOL

I found out that I didn't need the install hardware kit anyway. Those screws were only for the compensator, which I didn't install. I didn't have any trouble from the dealer getting it coded either, just gave them the instructions, they saw the MB number on the front page, and were cool with it. Charged me $98 (minimum 1 hour labor) though. What a stealer. LOL Of course, they opened a new dealership in Charlotte, and I'm thinking of giving them a try in 1400 when my first service is due. They just bought 57 new 08 C Class for loaners. :-)

On the bluetooth mhi module (not the puck), the ring tone is the ring tone in the phone. I know this because my phone has a custom ringtone and it comes through the car speakers when it rings. For the v60 puck system, I'm not sure.

Anyway, from what I can tell, I think I need the following:

Q-6-82-0826 E (Phone installation completer kit)
Includes:
Q-6-82-0829 - Linear Compensator
Q-6-82-0832 - Cable, Linear compensator
Q-6-82-0463 - Standard install hardware kit

Q-6-82-0828 (V60 cradle short cord kit)
Includes:
Q-6-82-0833 - V60 cradle with short cord coil
Q-6-82-0768 - V60 holder
Q-6-82-0811 - Battery insert

V60 bluetooth puck

I could also add the optional voice control kit Q-6-82-0827 but I may just do that later.
Can anyone confirm this? Do I need anything else? I know I'll have to get my dealer to activate it with Star but that shouldn't be a problem.
Where can I buy all these parts from?
MB Dealer or other third party?
Thanks

These parts will not work for your S600. These are only applicable for 2003-2004 W211 E-Class.

Do you have a phone connected? If not, thats what it says. When I hit the SAT button, I get told "Not satellite radio detected". Either your phone must be inserted into the appropriate cradle (different cradle for different types of phones) or you need a blue tooth puck (couple of different ones) installed which will connect to your phone via BT.

Does this help?

Bluetooth MIC problems

Anyone experience issues with the MIC?

I installed the cradle and the bluetooth puck and can pair with my phone (Moto V3 RAZR and Moto Q9h) with no problems. The phones and car pair with no problems, and I can make outgoing calls and person receiving call can hear me with no problems.

Issue arises when I exit the car and come back later. The phone pairs with phone however now when I make a call the person receiving the call cannot hear me. This happens if they call me or I call them. The phone integration works fine, only issue is with MIC. I see COMAND has a MIC off button, this does not do anything.

I thought it was the bluetooth puck, so I exchanged it but still have issue.

When the MIC stops working, taking bluetooth puck out, or repairing does not resolve issue. I have to turn off car and wait a while before it works.

Thx,
alf
