Sport package on 2007 E350s

I was at the dealer picking up some parts for my E55, and noticed that 2007 E350s come with sport package as a NO COST option! I was pleasantly surprised b/c it seemed like you get a lot more for the money. MB used to charge $4000+ for sport packages, which only included rims & bumpers. But this E350 seemed to have that PLUS x-drilled brakes, lower suspension, and special wood interior?

when did this happen? were 05-06 E350s also available with sport pkg?

I'd be very happy with a E350 or E550 sport package in a few years when i sell my E55.

Thats a European Spec car. I guess its up to that country's Authorized importer to choose from the many variations and feature combinations available to them from MB Germany.

c'mon MB USA bring that option pkg to the US.. or are they scared that car will take all sales away from the AMG models?

Yup sports packages have been offered on the E-Class for past year or so at no cost. I believe for the 2008 models they will add the AMG package again, now the question is will there be a cost.

That package is available in the US as the "Saks Fifth Avenue Edition".

As far as offering the sport package as a no-cost option in the last couple years, I suspect it is due to slowing C-class sales ahead of the all-new model coming this year. MB has been actively marketing the E-class to keep overall sales high, and tempting younger, 'sportier' buyers from a fresh BMW 3-series or Lexus IS with a low lease payment on a sport-package E-class seems to be the strategy, rather than pushing the lame-duck C-class.

The new 211 "ECE" sport package started out as an option at the end of MY06 for USA cars. Yes, when compared to the previous appearance package (MY03-06), which included some of the sport components but with 17" wheels, it was a bargain in MY06 at $2250 for the 350 and $1275 for the 500. The AMG sport package at $5000 was dropped at this time. As of MY07, the ECE sport package became a no-cost option for the 350 and 550 sedan. MBUSA recently announced that the AMG sport package, which was used for the Key to the Cure Cars, will now be available for ordering on the sport sedans for $2000. I would assume this would continue for MY08.

From what I've seen the true AMG sport package is no longer available. I never understood why MBNA doesn't let the US order more options if we are willing to pay for them. Especially on the Bluetec, the options list is sadly short....

That Saks car has the E55 look front bumper, not the E63. I'm not so sure I like it, since the E63's visual impact lies in its bumper.

See my sig for the current (free) Sport package...

How is the sport suspension ride? Is it really rough, or still smooth just handles better?

Your car can't be stock ride height, that thing is SLAMMED!

btw, the spork pkg is really neat and i'm sure the majority of E-class sold will have it. But I'm not so crazy about the wheels & front bumper design.

It also upgrades the brakes on the E350's from the 1 piston calipers to the 4 piston ones found on the E550's.

I like the NEW sport package

My wife and I test drove the E350 w/sport package and what a difference from the 04 E320 w/16 inch rims!

The car is entirely different. What a great package, add that to a P2, iPod, Bluetooth, not to mention the improved Harmon Kardon system, and the great lease rates for April, now you've got a great car.

We are still in the shopping phase, and it is for "her". I'll keep you posted.
