Updated Bluetooth Software...now not working

I got the blackberry pearl 8100 as soon as it came out. A few months later I got an 07 e350 with the bluetooth puck. After playing with some setting on my phone I was able to connect and my phone book downloaded. Well my phone broke and they sent me a replacement phone and it seems like it has a newer version of bluetooth. Well....now even with the same settings I can't get the phone book to download. As you can imagine it is upsetting since I'm so used to it working. Any ideas? Anybody have luck getting their pearl working?

I have a BB 7100 (T-Mobile) and can get it to connect but it does not download the phonebook and I have to actually answer using the phone and then it has the connection through the handsfree in the car.

I was told by my dealer that the Bluetooth Cradle only supports certain phones. I found the website: http://www.wireless4mb.com/ and they list only a few phones from each carrier. My wife has the Verizon version of my BB and hers workds fine. SO there must be some version of Bluetooth that causes it to work or not.

Let me know if you find out anything...

Forgot to mention that my wife's BB isn't listed as a supported phone.

Yep I was all over this bluetooth thing when I got my car. My blackberry was working great but this new replacement blackberry (exact same model) would not work.

The good news is I have fixed it. It turns out that the updated software didn't work so I had to put an olderversion of the software on the blackberry and it worked great.

So...if you have an 8100 that will NOT work with your bluetooth puck on an 07 let me know and I can help you to get it working.

I will be picking up my new 2008 E350 this evening, which now has bluetooth connectivity as standard equipment (in Canada). I also have the BB Pearl, which I got in April, thus I fear it might also have the dreaded new BT software. On the other hand, maybe the 2008 pucks have been upgraded as well ... !!

Could you advise on how to determine what software version my BB is carrying, and which version you found to work? I will be quite !@#$ if I can't get my BB to talk to the MB !

Thanks!

BB-Pearl and MB-BT marriage made in heaven!

Well, it took all of 90 seconds to get my BB 8100 Pearl synched to the MB BT puck. Full address book download, hands-free call and receive thru COMMAND, crystal-clear call quality I am told, and SMS to boot!! My only gripe is that the MB-BT won't let go of my BB even when I'm inside the house - it keeps connected at over 50 feet! Even though my BB was in my bedroom 2 floors away and the car in a sealed garage, I could still place a call from the MB!! Oddly enough, I couldn't get Sirius reception in the garage though!

My "brand new" (well, 3 months old) Pearl is using SW version 4.2.0.51. I find it odd that such a new phone would carry antiquated SW, but likely this is a function of it running on the Rogers cellular system (a company that seems to get most of its technology from garage sales, but they're the only ones to offer the GSM I need for global access). But, in consideration of jsimon77's problems, this is probably a good thing!

JsiMon- did you get the puck separately? and if so do you know the part number? My local dealer here, shows P/N 6-7-87-5856 But the info shows that it is NOT suppose to work with a BlackBerry Pearl 8100, which is what I have!
thanks

Don't forget, the BT is communicating by radio from your phone to the car 50 feet or so... Satellite is coming from outer space and the transmitting antenna MUST see the receiving antenna for the radio to play. It is a "Line of Sight" transmission.

The car will release your phone after some of the circuits that de-energize several minutes after you shut down the car go dead. Thats one of the reasons I went with a cradled phone set-up rather than BT. The other reason was so the the call is handled by the car's rooftop antenna rather than the phone in the pocket's antenna.

New 8100 (T-Mobile) Works!

I just bought a new 8100 from T-Mobile and it works fine. I can see the Phonebook which I was not able to do with my 7100.

My sw version is 4.2.0.64

We have the Bluetooth Puck and were also told by the dealer that our phones weren't supported but both my wife's 7130 and the 8100 both work fine.

That is correct. Your version works. ATT has a newer version that didn't work which is why I had to role back.

Just an additional update in case people want to use a newer version...

T-Mobile released a new firmware version for the 8100 on the 13th that corrects the DST issue and variety of other fixes along with changing the display of the Menu items when you click on the Menu button.

The version is 4.2.1.103 and after updating my phone I was able to still connect fine to the MB bluetooth puck and have the phonebook/sms available.

I haven't actually tried sending an actual message but it is enabled and you can type with the number pad. But given that I have a BlackBerry I don't find much need to SMS.

Happy with the new phone and really happy with the E550!!!!!
