2008 E 320 Bluetec delivered yesterday
Picked it up yesterday, and the wheels were a relief! The seven spoke wheels I was seeing on some of the sites were less attractive. Got everthing but the distronic [had it on my SL, thought it was a neat, distracting gadget] and the big sunroof [sun is such here that I keep the shade closed much of the year]. Otherwise, just about all options. Paired with my Motorola Q effortlessly and will plug in my iPod this am for the ride to work.
Indium grey with cashmere. The contrasting dash/carpet makes for an attractive not-all-beige interior.
Didn't change anything I can see, but it does have the Bluetec badge, so I am assuming it has the urea-injection and is a true 50 state car. Strong, quiet, [albeit soft suspension], solidly built car.

You can have the Distronic fitted in one morning. So dont despair. Where is the storage tub for the additive ? Where do you get additive ?

I would ask "where do you get the AdBlue parts for the car" because I cannot find any from EPC?
Isn't this a 211.022 car, with 642.920 engine? The 45 stage V6CDI is already called Bluetec in the USA but doesn't have the AdBlue system. I would like to see details if the 2008 car really did have this urea injection system. Either way, doesn't make your car worse (or better, really).
I'm afraid the MB press releases from before the current Bluetec release have been the source for the current confusion.

Thats actually not such a bad idea! If you don't use the headlight washers often, the fliud in the lines to the front of the car evaporates, and you have to repeatedly press the wash button to re prime the lines before you get any spray. Looking at the button & the headlight area can lead to a rear ending accident of the guy in front of you.

The last I heard the 2008 was a carry over of the 2007 car and it does not meet 50 state emissions. Although the Mercedes USA site does quote different figures for the 2008 Bluetec engine of 210 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.

Y'all may be right--
I'd been told they weren't going to mount the Bluetec badge until they were good to go on a 50 state car. No intent to imply the 50 state car is superior, but for resale, that's five more buying states...
Dunno where/if the urea container is located. Will be going over the car this weekend.
Anyone know if the right side mirror down feature is available on my car, and if it is owner selectable? Dealer couldn't tell me, guessed that it'd been deleted as an option. That is a handy feature, and had been deleted from my 07 SL.

In the USA. New Orleans.
I know that many programmable features vary by country. The passenger- side-mirror-down-in-reverse is a handy one, and I am coming out of an Audi A6 which also had this feature.
If there is some way to activate it, I would like to, as I use it.

I have an '08 E350 and it has a button adjacent to the headlamp switch that appears to be for a headlamp washer. I haven't tried it and there is no mention of it in the manual.

What was your car's build date? Perhaps it isn't the 2008 as of German designation? Anyway, the current on-line manual does not show the button at all.

I'll try the button the next time I wash the car.

I'd like to see the data card if it does mention the change of model year. Normally they change this after the German holiday season which would be quite much later. Perhaps we are talking about the US change of MY versus the factory MY. Not a big issue in this case though.

I was told that the first day of '08 production was 01-June. In the US, it's clearly an '08 model year.

Yes, I have no doubt on what you say. I was just curious if this would show the US model year change difference against the normal factory change of model year. I guess we have to wait later in the year for cars produced after German holidays coming to the US. You could also have a look at the data card of your car if you don't want to put it on public.

Update: I just checked my 300E and it was attached to the maintenance booklet. I've been through all the manuals on the new car and there is no data card. I did find a slip that shows the parts content for 2008 E-Class.

imo, it's a good idea that they made it wash every 5 cycles automatically, but they should have left the button there as well. Imagine having to waste all that fluid and time cleaning the windshield 5 times before the headlights finally get washed (if the headlights are all that you needed to be cleaned).

You can request one from the dealer, or simply forward your VIN and I will email a PDF.
