03 E500 and Corvette
I'm going to take a shot after doing my E500.
I suspect this is very much the same.
There are ball sockets holding the engine cover on. Just a easy pull they will release and allow the cover to come off. There will be a rubber seal at the air inlet neck to the filter. Watch for it don't lose if. If you don't get a new one with your replacement filter reuse the old one, but if it is damaged buy a new one.
I use only MB filters. There are bolts on the underside of the cover that holds the filters in. 10MM? I think don't remember for sure. Remove the bolts remove the element. And as they would say in a Chilton's manual. To install reverse removal instructions. Jim
