Angry New Chrome Key Features

Hey Guys, first post here. I have a 2003 W211, and the dealer sold it to me with the old key that had a crack in it, so he ordered a new key for me, and it is the new '07 chrome key.

My issue is that with the old key, the pass side mirror tilt on reverse was enabled and works fine, but now with the new key, I can't seem to get that feature!!!

I have read all the posts on that feature and how it was removed by MB for the later year models of my car, but since I have an '03, and I know the feature exists, could it really be that this feature is completely absent from the new keys??

In other words, can I get my new key programmed to enable that feature again?

Thanks.

on your mirror controls on the driver door make sure that its set to the passenger mirror and it should would then, another words act as if your adjusting the passenger mirror and leave it alone and try putting it in reverse

also, some of your car's features are key dependent.... therefore you would loose them if you used a different key than you normally would (which may be the case here). if you go into your settings in your MFD (the settings inside the instrument cluster) you can disable the key specific options (which i beleive include among other things include seat and mirror memory positions)

try that and post back with your results... good luck!

I just got a crack in one of my keys (outside plastic casing). Did you get just a cover and replaced the internals or did the dealer reprogram a whole new key?

With regards to your issue, I believe you just need to set it through the steering wheel with your new key in. It is under... Settings\convenience Thats how I did it when I switched keys once I got the crack in the other one. btw.. I actually turned it off because I could see better in the normal position and didn't like the limited visibility when they are turned down.

lasvegas99: I actually did get a new key that was programmed by the dealer for my car. As for getting to the settings menu in the steering wheel, can you help me out with that a bit?? When I flip around, I only see the 'reset to mfg settings ..' option, but I don't know how to pull up the settings in the cluster. Thanks.

PetePap: Would you leave GusGus alone!!! It is interesting to know that there is someone who uses the Shift key as much as they use the Space key when they type!!

GusGus: I do press the pass side adjust button when I go into reverse, but it has not worked ...

I will try to figure out the MFD settings for the key-specific options and let you guys know if it worked. I hope it does!

Thanks all for the replies.

Ok Try This Go In The Menu Settings And Scrool Down And Youll See Convience Click That That Youll See The Menu For The Mirror Make Sure Its Set to On , Then Make Sure Your Mirror Control Is Set To The Passanger Mirror And It Should Work You Must Have The Feature Turned Off In The Convience Settings , My Opinion Is That Whole Mirror Thing Is A Joke Unless Your Paralell Parking When Your In Reverse All You See Is The Ground Very Dangerous When Just Back Up Normally Not Paralell Parking Hope It Helps Guss

Thanks guys, I found the option on the settings menu, and it worked like a charm!!

GusGus, you can set how far the mirror tilts down so you can see exactly what you need in order not to hit the curb ... I agree that it is dangerour if you're just backing up, but that's why you can turn it off by hitting the drivers side mirror adjust button, right?
