03' with Cradle wants Bluetooth

Hi there,

I've read multiple times the various threads out there and there are some contradictory statements.

I have an 03' that has a cradle in the compartment and all phone buttons and such.

What do I need to purchase and/or install and/or have Mercedes update to make this happen.

Thank you for your assistance!

Nick

I'd start with finding a compatible phone. I bet it was the infamous Motorola phone that was integrated into your care originally.

If you already have the factory installed phone cradle, then you simply need a v60 bluetooth puck. I picked mine up on ebay, but that was before I found out that the BMW puck is the exact same part, only cheaper. What you want is the "v60 bluetooth puck" p/n B 6 7 87 5856

I do not know the BMW part number, but that is the MB part number. This item just snaps into your cradle in place of the v60 cell phone, and with a simple pairing procedure, it will integrate your phone. I have an iPhone, and it works great, along with my KRZR, V3 Razor, and my old Blackberry Pearl. Not all features are available with all phones however. For instance, only my Motorola phones download the phonebook. I don't have any contacts in my iPhone yet, so I haven't tried to get it to download. However, all of them linked with the car, and were able to be controlled by the COMMAND system in the car, including the buttons on the steering wheel, automatic radio mute when a call comes in, ect...

Good luck...

Piece of cake. You just need the V60 bluetooth puck and a bluetooth phone.

Since you already have the cradle, I would think that your car is already version coded. Just get the puck, pair your phone, and away you go.

Be sure to pick a bluetooth phone that offers as many of the features as possible, such as uploading the phone book to Comand, etc. Not all features are as available as they are with an MB V60 or other compatible cradled phone.

If you have a chance, test it with an actual plug in phone(someone at the dealership may still use some of those phones V60)...just to make sure that you have the compensator and filter also installed and functioning as well.

Thank you everyone for your great replies.

I spoke with my contact at MB of West Chester, and he said he can get it for $314 (lists at $380). Is this a deal?

Yes, that's a good deal. Paid $325 for mine. Also, the previous post is an error... you do NOT need the compensator for the bluetooth setup. The reason behind this is that the compensator only enhances the antenna signal for the phone, and because the phone is not actually in the cradle, the antenna signal will NOT be boosted. But in any case, because your cradle assembly was probably installed at the dealer when the vehicle was purchased new, you most likely have the compensator installed anyway.

I really like how the phone automatically connects to the car with the bluetooth. All I have to do is get in and start the car, and everything works through COMMAND. This is even more convenient than having the v60, because that phone had to be "snapped" in and out every time you got in or out of the car.

Just make sure you pair your phone correctly (follow the instructions). I didn't do this with mine, and I thought it was broke, until I went back and looked at the instructions again.
