Question for you E class owners who did the AMG conversion??

What did you guys do about the quad exhaust system for the rear bumper, I know theres always the option of buying the original E55 mufflers but at 1300.00 is'nt there any cheaper aftermarket exhaust we can install as well?

As you know, I did the E55 exhaust conversion. Before I had that, I did a magnaflow setup but wasn't happy with it. Our cars have the exhaust hidden behind the rear skirt with downward facing tips. With the Magnaflow setup, I found that there was too much droning for my taste during normal driving. Now, you could always get a Magnaflow system with tips. You could then cut your bumper and it would look kinda like mine. For me, the E55 was the only alternative. I wanted the car to look stock, sound stock and fit perfectly. I was able to purchase my E55 exhaust used for 750.00. A similar Magnaflow system will run you about 400.00

Actually....

The guy who purchased my Magnaflow setup has sold his car. He is selling the exhaust in the Classifieds right now.

These mufflers already have the customer hangers and custom downward tips already done at my expense. These would be a simple plug and play if you're interested.

I just emailed the the pics to the guy who bought them from me. He said that someone is interesting in seeing the pics, I'm assuming that's you. Here they are:

Buying a used E55 system or having a muffler shop fabricate one for you will probably be the most cost effective route. I did the AMG conversion and I'm currently running the tips, but that is only a temporary aesthetic fix. I will be swapping those out soon because I agree with a lot of people on here that the tips do not look that great. Most of the systems out there are pretty pricey so a used E55 exhaust may be my choice too. Otherwise, I'll have to cough up $2,000+ for something.

There's a guy selling his e55 AMG exhaust right now in the classifieds:

https://mbworld.org/forums/classifieds/214308-e55-exhaust-sale.html

I actually just bought an exhaust from the classifieds here alittle while ago and will be doing the cut outs like benz-o-rama did...at least until my amg kit comes in.

i went to my muffler buddy and he got me with a great set up. i couldnt afford the AMG exhaust so i did 2 magnaflow mufflers tucked into the area from the stock mufflers and he made the pipe curve down to get the tips comming out. the tips i got look just like the amg ones but not staggered. i also did an x pipe. at the end of the day my car got about an extra 20 horses and it came with a great sound. i dont have that problem where the exhaust is just rumbling everywhere just when the car is in drive- when i drive normal on the street and stuff its got a little sound but when i hit that gas man the beast comes out . i also did the K&N air filters so at the end i paid around 650 and thats with everything plus labor and a lifetime warranty. and my car feels hella faster.

What makes you think that you got "20 horses" from this new setup? I'm guessing it's the "seat of the pants meter"? The K&N's add no HP, and I think 20 for the mufflers is a bit over the top. Sweet setup though.....

Eisenmann is nice. That's the setup that I think that I'm going to go with. I called a shop yesterday to find out if the oval tips can be fitted on the E500 exhaust or would I have to buy the E55 mufflers, because the non-AMG version has round tips.

thats what my buddy was telling me at the shop, he said about 7-10 hp from the mufflers itself and another 8-10 on the x-pipe that i did. i do feel more power but i have to go get it dynoed to see what i have exactly. where could i do that by the way.

In the classified section of this very message board. If you read this thread closely, and pay attention to post #7, you might just find another one.
