MB Owner Loyalty Program.. input please.
Just received the attached promo (Mercedes Benz Owner Loyalty Program) in the mail. Here's the jist of it:
Anyone have any experience with such a thing? What do you guys think?
My ride is an '04 e500 w/50.5k on the odo.
- Trade in current vehicle and upgrade to new 2008 MB near, at, or below current monthly payment
- Up to $8,000 customer loyalty incentive
- Free 2 yr maintenance plan
- Will absorb remaining loan or lease payment
- 2.9% financing and $0 down
- up to 15% over blue book fair trade-in value
- reduced prices
Anyone have any experience with such a thing? What do you guys think?

Sounds like a dealer promotion of some sort and not an MB promotion. Watch out for the smoke and mirrors when they show you some numbers. Remember if it sounds too good to be true it isn't.

I got a similar mailing from my dealer. Its a Dealer Promo, not MB Promo. Probably a reccomended "way to increase your business using the mail". It just doesn't make economic sense. Plenty of smoke & mirrors or small print.

I got something like that from one of the dealers I used for service. It's a dealer promo done by some of the larger dealerships and not an MB promo. I did call to get some information but they wanted me to come in with my car so they can do a trade-in estimate and sit down with me to discuss buying/leasing a new car. Since I wasn't really interested in selling or buying an 08 I just forgot about it.

And when you arrive at the dealer to take advantage of this offer they will tell you oops, that was only for the C300 Sport with no options and they only had one. Oh and that financing at 2.9% is for 6 months etc etc
They will just tell you there are all these fine print terms, its just a ploy to get you into the showroom.

The "ands," "ifs" and "buts" are so in-your-face that they don't even put them in small print.

Toyota dealer marketing 101. Interesting that MB discontinued MBCCA club discounts for 2008 model year. That plus elimination of free maintenance plus hefty additional option expense for necessities like bi-xenon lights and ADSII increase the cost an MB by several thousand $ vs comparable BMW's. If only BMW would un-Bangle their styling I would likely switch back.
