Extended Warranty

I know this general topic has been discussed but can't find my answer in "search". Does anyone have experience with Warranty Direct? Looking for an extended for my 08 E-550 and think it might be one of the better ones as they go beyond just mechanical breakdown.

My dealer didn't even mention it. They sell Fidelity. I had to ask them about the MB plan but it seemed to be more of a mechanical breakdown policy vs. someone like Warranty Direct Platinum that covers wear and tear, etc. Haven't made any decisions yet.

yes exactly, the new warranty only cover the engine, transmission, and water pump, how about the suspension, and the electronic problems. Is there any warranty in california do that. Because mine is almost 50K and i am only planning to buy a 2 year warranty.

A few people have had good luck with www.chryslerservicecontracts.com

The only catch is you have to purchase it before 48K miles, even though you have a 50K one now. I missed the boat by 500 miles and they wouldn't write my contract for me. Had I been within the 48K miles, they would've been a grand cheaper than Warranty Direct for a similar policy.

I read the Chrysler info and one reason they are cheaper than Warranty Direct is that that Chrysler is a mechanical breakdown policy and does not include wear and tear - a big difference. It is not an exclusionary policy, which is preferred, meaning that there is a relatively small list of stated things not covered.

warranty direct

I just bought a 05 SL 500 and 06 CLK 350 for my daughter and was seeking an extented warranty. I was looking at WarrantyDirect, Chysler and Nation(not National)Warranty Corp. for both vehicles. I went on line and found a number of consumer complaints for warrantydirect...not paying high end repairs...I was then leaning towards MB but realized that they sell third party warranties as well...which might have issues as well. Its better to get a warranty earlier than later due to costs. I think the above companies are probably the better ones...but still unsure...BILL

You would think MB would stand behind several recommended companies that offer the bumper to bumper plans but in Denver alone the dealers recommended two different extended warranties that they sell (Fidelity and Zurich) and do not mention the MB plan unless you ask. They were slightly cheaper than Warranty Direct but also seemed to cover less. I've heard the dealers mark these up considerably and of course their service department thinks they are the best. Warranty Direct has the best web site IMO as you can download the contract, etc. My MB dealer only sent me the brochure for Fidelity even when I said I wanted to see the contract itself. They finally sent it but their reluctance turned me off. The Fidelity website was poor for info.

Have not heard too many bad things about Warranty Direct but your info warrants some more research on them. Thanks for the heads up. I would like to make a decision soon but independent info and comparisons on these companies is strangely lacking.

I had Warranty direct and the highest level of warranty they offer on my Lincoln. Never had an issue with them. Our E500 that replaced the Lincoln was a Starmark certified and we bought the 100,000 MB warranty. good investment.

Mercury Insurance Group

My local dealer was pretty helpful concerning an extended warranty policy for my '04 e500. They recommended the Gold Protection Plan through Mercury which is convenient because they are set up in MB's system and are well known to the service writers. The price they quoted me is 4 years or 100k miles for $3780.00 (100.00 Deductable). I also contacted a Mercury broker directly to compare prices and was quoted $3,680.00 for 3 years 100k miles ($25.00 Deductable) for the same plan.

Hope this helps.

Extended Warranty

Just spoke to a Mercury rep., now called Paragon Motor Club, and he's quoting a 7 yr. 75K, 100 deduct, for my E-550 4-matic at $2445. Warranty Direct wants $3206 for same. This is the Platinum policy (exclusionary vs. mechanical breakdown) for both and electronics are covered. I've heard good about both companies here but have to wonder why one is quite a bit cheaper. Mercury is sending me their contract so I can compare with Warranty Direct. Still trying to track down the negatives on either. Mercury claims they are underwritten directly by an insurance Co. whereas WD is an RRG which some feel can be less desirable. Thanks for the input on these.
