Navigation Service Update DVD??

Alternatively swap the navi drive to a new one or send the old one for service. It may be possible get the DVD out with force but it may not work with a genuine DVD either after that.

But MB actually has bulletins warning about copy discs, not because of the lower reflectivity that may not be sufficient for the (possibly intentionally) crappy DVD drive in the navi processor but because of the thickness differences and sometimes bad labels on the DVDs. This could be a mechanical issue from the copy DVD. Of course more likely that the navi processor DVD drive just started misbehaving.
But I'm not saying you are wrong either. Just my personal experience.

I have used a duplicate DVD forever. Never had a problem. I live in South Florida with the average year round temp of 90+ and the in the car temp of 104+ while sitting in the sun.
Glad it was only an inexpensive bad fuse.

I have a 2004 W220 with NTG1 DVD NAV in the trunk. Inserted in the DVD drive was an original DVD, version 4.1. I ejected that DVD and inserted (running engine) a copy of the V10.0 DVD. The software installed straight away. No fuss, no upgrading of the DVD drive. I was worried that the DVD would not be read due to the big jump from V4 to V10
Also, I do not have the latest HU patch as I do not see ETA on the screen. where can I get that patch from? Can someone send COMAND update (w211589142200) for my W220 DVD in trunk Comand 2.0?
QUOTE=glojo;2595634]I am not judging anyone here but it would appear someone has tried to obtain a copy of this DVD from the Internet and it hasn't worked? Could this 'pirate' copy have damaged this COMAND? Would buying a kosher copy actually resolve the issue?
I keep all my original DVD's in the house and have the copy in the car, this has never been a problem and I have never had difficulty using the copy.
Good luck getting this issue resolved

1. Buy from the dealer
2. Buy from ebay or similar
3. Team up with others to explore joint purchasing
4. Find a copy on the internet. This is very difficult as the volumes are huge (4 GB) and you do not get any help; in fact this is illegal. Creating an ISO image from multiple RAR containing other RARs (obtained via multiple Torrents) is not for amateurs and takes several days. Do not expect anything like "click here to download the DVD"
Also, do not expect anyone here to send you a disk; you need to create your own network. Try option 2 above
DVD copies do work if created properly, but reading speeds can be slow. This means that when you press the direction keys to move the map in any particular direction on the screen (eg. see the end of the blue route) you will get very frustrated indeed!

Click on download torrent. You need software like BitTorrent to download. I just try the link, and it say that download time is around 3 hr. Burn image, I used Nero, works just fine. Insert in DVD nav unit and turn Comand on, but not the car, should start updating.
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4019...on_Service_DVD this is the Service update dvd if yiu need it. Read the description.
Can't find Comand update that allows ETA, but is v46.06 for SW.

By any chance do you have a link to the v.10 version??FYI...I used a DVD-R and burn at slowest setting
I have the impression that the NAV system buffers the adjoining pages (the pages/blocks on all sides of the map; those that are not shown at the moment).
Does anyone know how I can revert back to a previous software/Map version?
Current: V10; Previous: V4.1
