Thumbs up My new E500 with AMG package

First of all, I'd like thank you all for such a great forum. Without all the informations from you, I couldn't have pulled the trigger.

Here is my 03 E500 Avangarde Obsidian black/Kieselbeige(called sand in States?) Nappa leather interior. Major options are AMG package+wheels, Distronic, Tyre pressure monitor, Panorama, Keyless-Go, and Multicountour+Dynamic Driving+heated & vetilated seat for a driver. Unlike most of you who ordered a car withspecific options, I had chosen a car among dealer stocks in Germany and imported it into my country('cause local dealers only bring 240 and 320). That's why I have options like Distronic(which I have never used during my first 3 weeks) and Dynamic driving seat(which actually works fabulously but don't ask me do I really need it). Anyway, I am extremely happy with my decision and the car runs flawlessly. My only gripe is that while the driver's seat has so much function like memory, multi.., dynamic, heat & vent, passenger side is semi-electric seat; means have to pull the lever to move it back and forth! Well, I guess not so much surprising in a country where cup holder is charged as an option...

Here are some photos...

Interestingly, I heard that many cars in Germany come with no badge from the factory(badge delete option?)... One of my friend got SL500 and his came with no badge too.

Interior pictures are with flash light because they are taken inside the garage. I replaced the original Beige floor mat with Anthracite floor mat. In order to keep them clean a little bit longer...

What exactly is an 'AMG package'? Is that just cosmetic touches that make it look like the AMG without it being the E55?

By the way, it looks AWESOME!! I love the obsidian black, particularly on the steering wheel - never saw it, but now I hope they would offer it in the States because it is very unique and beautiful.

Beautiful car.....great pictures. I think (I don't have my car yet) that the passenger seats on the US version are electric like the drivers. At least the demo I drove was equipped that way.

(Schvetkaaks....the Black Birdseye Maple wood wheel and trim is standard on the Sports model of E500.)

Wheel/tyre sizes are 8J 18 245/40 front and 9J 18 265/35 rear.

AMG package consists of front apron, rear apron and single exhaust pipe on each side. It is factory option in Europe. AMG package does not include AMG wheels/tyres. You have to order it separately(never seen AMG packaged car without AMG wheels/tyres, but there are regular Es from the factory with only AMG wheels/tyres).
Yes, it makes it look like E55 but tailpipes are different. E55 has dual pipes on each side.

In europe, all Avangarde versions get Black birds eye wood trim while Elegance versions get standard wood.

Muhri2, tyres I've got are Dunlop Sport 9000 same size as yours. Very happy my car came with them because have used them many times, grips are not superior but very good in wet and most of all, ride is so much better than other tyres in this category.

Beautiful Car! I've got a black E with a similar tint and can't stop smiling when I see the car. Day 11 and I haven't missed the Bimmer yet!

I love those crome exhaust tips. Anyone know if and when they can be added at the dealer/aftermarket and at what price?

Nick

Can anyone tell me what the two grill like areas on the back of each front seat are? We don't have them in the US. Just curious.

Barney,
I'm quite sure that ventilating seats have those grill-like spot for, you know, ventilation. There are several fans inside the seat and air gets in through those holes.

Just asked our salesperson today (was curious).....doesn't look like its happening for 03. Heck, Navigation and the Trunk closer are still not available to date.

So, if MB does plan to offer the AMG package in the U.S., don't think it will happen until the 04 model year.

There are no speakers in the rear of the front seats, they are located in the rear door.
