Will an E55 Airbox fit on my E500
I was advised to use an E55 airbox on my 03 E500. Does anyone know if this will fit?

RE: E500 Airbox
Having owned an E500 for almost 3 years, my experience was that the airbox, with the dual inlets and total area of the dual air filters would flow more air than the M113 engine needs.
You might want to consider a pair of Green air filters to negate any filter restriction; I changed my filters annually and mine always rans at it's best when they were newly replaced.

Thanks, I installed Green filters today. I'm considering an aftermarket airbox and was told to try the 55 box. I'll wait to find an aftermarket box then.

collector, do a search there's a number of places to purchase them from. Green Filters allows more air flow than stock while continuing to supply superb filtration. As with any prelubed filter, do not over lubricate.
FORUM, I have another question. Will a C55 box work on my 500?

UPDATE: the 55 airbox is NOT bolt-on.. the air port on the 500's are flat and the 55's are angled, it is very possible to work just have to re bracket the splitter downward is all (I Think?) I will be messing with this thing for the next couple days..

Leave it alone
the air box flows what the engine needs.
No green filter or k/n will outflow the stock filters that cost 32 bucks for the pair, and you install a new set at every oil change.
Proof of the oem setup flowing all the air it needs:the engine does not run out of power at it's governed limit.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

O-lord, eliminating the governed limit is the modus operandi. That being said, you are correct that this engine is set-up to perform at it's peak with the factories set-up.
I hope you don't believe this.
Abb, keep me updated. I was informed the 55 box will work. I'd like to see one to compare it's airflow capability to my stock box.

OK verdict is, It Will work but you really have to Rig it.. I cut the OEM brackets off and rebracket them so they can fit but the hoses are twisted so i have to get some New hoses of some sort. the bump stops fit so the airbox doesnt move, It is hooked up now I have felt a minor diff. but I think the ECU needs at least 1 day to kick in the more air.. but i will have to check the 1/4 if it made any diff at all. will post some pics of install.

ok, so with the stock airbox best time 13.88 no plastic tabs,KNs,Thermotec.
AMG Airbox stock filters,no tabs,no thermotec 13.83. but I def think i can do better runs I hear the exhaust has a little more rumble now (i may be crazy)!
but the tubes are still the issue, 2 angles not consistently flowing def causing some drag in flow. I need to either A. find new Silicon tubing B. heat up the old 1 and see what happens.

Abb, great work. But, you do know your 1/4 mile runs are affected by temp, humidity, etc. 5 one hundreds of a second is an improvement. But, is it worth it? Can we use our air filters in that airbox?
I'm contemplating on an aftermarket box. Who else besides RennTech makes one for our model?
BTW, I got my ECU back yestarday. Now it definitely has loads of low-end. I'll give it a couple of hundred miles and If I can't get used to the Sprint Booster. I'll probably sell it.
