Blown Center Speaker

Unfortunately, DTBs are not honored out of warranty unless an argument can be made that the part in question was modified for the reason of complaint. Nonetheless, request a discount for the repair since it is a known problem. As a matter of reference, the original speaker part #A2118203602 is replaced by A1698201802.
If I were you I would try taking it apart, buying the speaker at the dealer and replacing it yourself (if you are mechanically inclined). Otherwise you'll get raped at the dealer.

My 2007 W211 also has this issue, whenever a loud navigation voice or a high pitch song plays that speaker or grill sounded so awful. I was going to bring it in before the warranty is up, but I totally forgot about that issue
now I have to pay them to get it fixed. so is my speaker blown or the DTB issue that konigstiger mentioned? Can the DTB be fixed yourself if the speaker is not blown? Also anyone has any pictures on how to remove the metal mesh that covers the speaker?
