2006 E500 Wagon
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
I have an '06 E500 Wagon. My owner's manual says I have a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, but I can't seem to access it in the instrument cluster. Is it possible that it is optional equipment that I didn't get? Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the window sticker and see if it listed. The manual covers all options you can get on the car even the ones you don't have on yours so even if it is mentioned in the manual it doesn't mean that you have it.

Also it may be the system that will light up an idiot light that says "Check Tire Pressure", and not report which tire is low or be able to read individual tire pressures. One system uses individual TP Senders at each tire the other system uses ABS to note different tire rotational speeds due to a change in tire diameter due to losing air... so there's nothing for you to access or see as far as pressures unless you lose air.

Your 06 E-Class is equipped with a TPMS System that utilizes individual tpms sensors in each wheel to monitor tire pressure. The tire pressure sensor OEM# is 0008223406 and these are 315 Mhz frequency. There are also an aftermarket replacement for this sensor part# D9004.

I agree with this statement. Will it be nice when this warning light comes on, it also tells us which tire has low pressure? Hmm, come to think of it, that will be really nice because we don't have to check all the tires.

Another option is to version code the BASIC TPS system via the Star aka SDS ..as it uses the Wheel speed via the ABS signal ..not as good as the Full TPMS but it works when a tire goes ...

Are USA dealers permitted to Activate this feature by MBUSA?
Most Dealers do NOT do any version code work..as MOST Techs have a hard enough time hjust to read out DTC faults..let alone change settings
Ask The service advisor for help or talk to a shop foreman re this
