'03 Driver-side Mirror Issue
No damage to the car at all. So after doing a LOT of shopping (on my current limited budget), I found a website called 123mercedes.com. Truly a godsend in my eyes... The part was only $234, this was hundreds less than anywhere else.

I ordered it and with 3-day shipping, I got it Wednesday. I take it to a local paint/repair shop. They look at it (I also looked at it when I got it), and it looked like the right part. All of the bolts fit in place, and the wire harnesses match up. They paint it (very well I might add) an go to put it on...
Here lies the problem.
The mirror has a motor on it... I'm certain this is an auto-close feature. The problem is, my old mirror (like my passenger side) wasn't motor operated. There's no open or close mirror buttons in my car. So there's no way for me to get the thing in the open position.
So I think they sent me the wrong mirror. I called 123mercedes.com (very nice and trying to be helpful by the way) and he tells me that that is the ONLY replacement mirror for the W211s. That's the only one they have. There are NONE without the motor. So I believe him... And come here. I don't know what to do. Am I supposed to pry it open and leave it open? Am I supposed to have a different part?
Help, please.

or
purchase the OTHER side and order the power folding mirror switch you will also have to Version code the car to power folding mirror PRESENT via the STAR aka SDS ...then you will have Power folding mirrors ...I added power folding mirrors to our W211 and they work great

The "auto close" mirrors neither close automatically if you apply correct settings, so this is not an internal feature at the mirrors but driven from the door control module. You also should have a separate wire pair, yellow and green, for the mirror fold-in motor. Did you mean your wiring harness matches the mirror for the rest of the wiring or did your door control module really have these wires included? In the latter case you could probably version code your car for auto closing mirrors.
I was just guessing it would be simpler for you to use these mirrors you've already got instead of spending time to find those that do not auto-fold.
