Question oh crap please help! service changed from c to f!

hey guys i have a problem.
i just got back from florida and right when i got back home the car said its due for c service. now i got in it today and it says service f was due 4500 miles ago!!!!!!. i was messing around with the service display to see what services are due in the service menu then the next think i know i see the service f is way past due.i havent had the car more than a few months and when i got it it said i needed service in 3000 miles and just as i got home it was due. what does this mean? why would it say service c is now due then change to being service f was due 4500 miles ago? i dont want to get screwed by the dealer so im going to find a good shop to work on the car.
the car has 69k on it.please help guys

I guess it means that service c is due now and you missed the service f 4500 miles ago. Service k is coming soon...

Unhappy re>>>>>

but why would service f come up out of nowhere? and it being 4500 miles past due is really weird. like if i got in the car ones and it said service c is due now then get in it again and it says service f was due 4500 miles ago.
it makes no sense.help please!

I think you got to first carefully think what "f" really stands for.

Ok,, been there done that already. I just went in for normal service C at the time and told them I dorked up the FSS and the dealer reset it correctly.

However if you just run until you next scheduled service, then do C and a FSS reset for oil change as in the owners manual it will probably reset then.

I had a Serv. F due with only 32K in my '05 just last month. The dealer told me I needed a service B based on mileage and year. As Vettedriver posted above, they completed by Srv. B, and now I have a Serv. C due in 12K.

My point is the FSS can be irky. BUT, you do have 69K on it, so I would pull all the items listed in your FSS, compare them with your maint. book, and request only the items required by the book. (U may have spark plugs, but those are not changed until 90K according to my '05 E500 book). So that would be one example of an item NOT to change. This is what happened with me.

HOWEVER, your car is 5-6 yrs. old, and the maint. book does call for plugs to be changed at 90K OR 5 yrs. Not sure what to say about that.

Pls. keep us posted and good luck.

Take it to the dealer, I have the same car, and with that mileage F schould be correct. last time i took it to the dealer for the F service, looks like they change the setting in the car, because now it's asking for a B service, the dealer said that now it will be only A or B sevices no more a b c d e ....

I'm in a similar situation right now. My car says that it needs a service F right now with items 4, 7, 9, 10, 12, and 14 listed. It is an '04 E500 with about 62K on the clock.

I've spoken with my dealer about these items (dust filter, spark plugs, oil change/filter, and random inspections and fluid check/replacements), but they told me the car only needs service B at this time and quoted it as a 4 hour job.

It surprises me that they would say the car needs less work than it states without even looking at it. Does that seem right to your guys?

FYI, the told me the base price on service F would be $499 plus tax, but they didn't tell me what's included in the 'base' price.

Correct.

Since you do not know the service history of the car, take it in, have everything done, and relax.

That was my line of thought anyway, so I'm taking it in and having them handle whatever needs to be done.

Serv B should about 2 hrs. A=1, B=2 etc. I would consider another dealer...
