brand new to MBZ.. help?

I just bought myself a 2003 E320 and I was wondering if there was much I could do it? I was thinking about 20's and lowering the car a bit but I don't really know of many places that could do this?

I'm based in San Jose but anywhere in Santa Clara would be fine. About how much would the installation costs as well as the rims/wheels themselves cost?

Anything else any of you would recommend doing?

Good friend of mine uses this site a lot for his stuff - figured I should try it as well?

Any help would be wonderful.

I would go with 19's and an extended warranty.

I know everyone loves "dubs" for some reason, but keep a couple things in mind:

1) Roads in the US and CA are garbage compared to German/European standards.

with that in mind..

2) Mercedes-Benz does not allow/reccomend larger than 17" for the W211 unless the car is equipped with sport suspension and/or airmatic

3) Mercedes-Benz does not sell any OEM wheels for any W211 larger than 18"

With the above in mind, I would not buy wheels larger than 18"

All this is not to say I am against swapping wheels. I am extremely sad that there are no wheel choices for the E320 Bluetec US model, so I am looking for a set of W211 17" wheels to ship to Germany and put on the car immediately after pickup. I'll probably throw the original 16" wheels in the trunk when I drop it off for the shipment back to the US.

So its a bad idea to order 18" authentic E63 wheels for my non-sport 4matic?

I still think it will work without issue, as long as it is not staggered.

I agree that you should not change the wheels larger unless suspension is changed to match it ...

I once saw a very cool looking Mercedes with 20's at a car sale lot and I test drove it... the first turn scared me sh... less !!! The tires turned sharply but the body didn't... the swaying felt like I had loss control of the car.

I drove it back very slowly to the lot and told the salesguy to put back on the stock wheels/tires.

I would definitely recommend this place too. A lot of bay area members go to this shop (including me) for mod work.
