Please help ASAP Brabus Spoiler buy or not....

Hey everyone,

I have an 08 e350, and went to Brabus in Newport Beach today.

They quoted me 700 for a trunk spoiler. I can't decide to do it or not and need to decide by today.

Please help, I am not sure if this is to expensive for a spoiler or not. The price list on the Brabus website says 1200 for painted and installed.

Thanks

John

I paid over 800 for an OEM spoiler and install by MB. I am delighted with the results.

Thanks for input, it is not the three piece spoiler. Only the deck lid spoiler. I can't decide if it is nicer than the factory amg spoiler.

anyone with pics would be appreciated.

Also I feel like 700 is a good deal, but not sure when you see ones on ebay for like 200.

Thanks

IMO, save the cash and get the Euroteck E63 replica for 250.00 or whatever it is. I normally hate anything replica, but it's such an insignificant piece, that I couldn't justify the extra money for the AMG one. Mine looks just like the AMG one and with the extra cash, I took my boys to a nudie bar.

I am just not sure if a 700 dollar spoiler looks any different than the 250 or 150.

I saw it in person, as they have it in stock. It looks great, i wish i had a pic of it to show. The only pic of it is in the Brabus E-class brochure. But it isn't like the AMG spoiler that curves down the front of the trunk and over the third brake light. It is flush with the lid.

I just feel 700 is a big investment for such a minor part.

Guess i will decide tomorrow.

here is a pic, not the best size and quality

Installing spoiler

Hey everyone

I am wondering if i get the spoiler online and painted, how hard is it to install and lineup perfectly?

Anyone who installed their own spoiler and has tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

It's not! Most won't even know the difference. I'm with benzo-o-rama and use the saved money on something else more significant. I have the Lorinser style spoiler but I like the look of the AMG spoiler best. If it uses the 3M adhesive, should be a cinch to install.

Bought spoiler for 700

Hey I ended up buying the spoiler today during my lunch break, it was 700 installed. It took the guys like 10min to install. Seemed pretty easy

But it isn't really sticking down that well to the trunk, has enyone else experienced similar problems. I think I am going to have to go back and have it re-stuck down. They used 3m double sided tape is this what everyone else used? The sides are sticking up a little bit also so it isn't perfectly flush with the trunk. Will let everyone know what happens.

Thanks

John

will post pics as soon as i get home from work

I used the 3m as well and it is very flimsy but I do not think it will come off.

They charged me $100 for the install but they did a proper job. Heated the car up in the heater bay (well it was a little cold then), got rid of the sticky tape; used polyurethane glue then back in the heater bay; took about an hour and half at least but as you can tell from the pictures it is a perfect job; it is obviously never coming off and the guys with fishing line cannot get to it (not that such a problem exists here)

I was always a little leery of the 3M tape... the polyurethane glue is the way to go.. but where can you buy it? Hardware stores or paint stores? Anyone know?

Wow! you mean people go around removing $500 spoilers with fishing line??? OH, that explains why there are over 7000 spoilers for sale on eBAY !!!

That would **** me off!

I have no idea which polyurethane glue they used and I am not sure if it is available in hardware stores but I believe it can be ordered. If you handle it yourself you better be very careful; you would not want to let the glue contact surrounding paintwork. This is one of the reasons I let the MB body shop do the job.

glue is better than the cheap 3M tape that it comes with.

Where to buy polyurethane glue???

That polyurethane glue must be fast drying... They must use a masking tape to hold down the spoiler while the glue is drying in the hot room.

I would do it myself if I knew where to buy the glue... given enough time and care (probably takes 2 guys... one on each end!) you could do it and be proud!

Anyone knows where to buy a small tube of polyurethane glue?

Give your favorite bodyshop a call. They usually have a local supplier that they go through. You can even call a glass/windshield company. They use similar (if not the same) glue to attach and seal the windshield to the car.

If you use the glue, the part is basically never coming off. OTOH, the commercial 3M 2-sided tapes are pretty strong too.
