quick offset Q

hey guys, i'm looking at a set of GFG 20's on ebay. it looks like theyre gonna go pretty cheap, but there isnt much info provided! it doesnt list the offsets or widths, but they were on a CLS500. the tire sizes are 245/35 and 275/30. i know thats a little big, but im ok with a tad extra padding. so do you guys think from this limited info that they would fit ok? i'd love to get a good deal, but its not much of a deal if they stick out 6 inches from the fenders or are scraping suspension components. TIA!!

Those tire sizes are going to make your overall diameter bigger than stock.

Did the eBay listing list the rim widths? If it's from a CLS, the rear rim might be 10.5" or 11", which would be too wide for an E

the details are seriously half assed. just the diameter and tire sizes. i sent the seller an email asking for the offsets and width. maybe he'll get back to me before the auction is over (20 hrs from now).

Normal widths for a W211 are 8.5 or 9" front, and 10" rear. You can squeeze 10.5" rear if the offset is perfect.

I run 19's right now, and my front offset is +28 (aggressive) fronts and +36 rears. Not sure if the offsets would be the same or different for 20's. We'll see when my new set of 20's comes in.

preserve

you ride quality 245/35/19 and 285/30/19 with proper offset, low 30's(30-32) will give you looks and handling Are you dropping the car?Prepared to spend the money to get the suspension set for the drop and proper alignment?
the tires on the 20's you mention are one inch taller and 40 revs per mile less than oe, so it would hurt the car off the line and your speedo would be way off.

thanks for the replies. i was originally browsing ebay for a set of OEM CLS 18's. the plan is to keep it simple and maybe just lower it a bit. but 20's are so tempting!

18's

and 19's will look better with some meat on them and ride better and handle better.20's are for pimps or if you live in san jose.Anything smaller than 20's and they shoot you

I would do a 275/30 rear tire on a 19" rim

If you're considering 19's now, mine will be available in a few weeks, when my new rims come in

just an update, the wheel/tire setup ended up selling for $721 shipped. the seller never got back to me on the specifics i was needing. i almost wanted to pick em up anyway and relist them WITH the specs necessary to sell for a decent price. might have made a quick buck....oh well. i would have had to powdercoat them anyway just so i could live with myself (cant do chrome!)

Although everyone's taste is different, I think the fates were with you. Those wheels are not worthy to be on an MB. I for one am glad you missed out.

Hey TBone.... Can you post some pics of your ride with those wheels you might be selling? I'd like to get an idea of what they would look like on mine... Its time to shelf my flat fives and mount up some bling.

Thanks.

I dont think those tires will fit esp. at the back. Even if they will fit, the speedo will be off.The 245/40 and 275/35 are the OEM tire sizes for 18" wheels.
