Could be anything, best thing is to have a diagnostic read out from the OBD socket. There should be an independant garage around that can do this for you for a lot cheaper than the dealer. Phone around.

Remember that "Check Engine" simply means that one or more of the emissions sensors is detecting higher than expected emissions. It could be almost anything. With what gas costs now, it pays to have it looked at.

It might be as simple as a loose gas cap

yeah...only takes like a second to read the code...probably not a big deal, at least hopefully not .... like lig said...it could be a loose gas cap...make sure its tight...drive it around for a little, turn it on and off, etc...happend to my wagon a while back
goodluck

My check engine light came on yesterday. When I stopped at the store, I took the gas cap off and put it back on and made sure it was on right. The check engine light hasn't been back on again (knock wood). I would recommend reseating the gas cap before taking it in.

I had the Check Engine light come on a few weeks ago. The air pump relay had shorted, causing it to run full time. This is the air pump at the top center of the engine that pushes air into the exhaust to help the catalyitic converters heat up for about 2 minutes on a cold engine.

When I finally arrived at the dealer, the pump smelled like it was going to cause an electrical fire.

If this ever happens to anyone else, you'll hear the air pump running "key on, engine off". Pull the front cover (top engine front) and unplug the electric air pump.

Glad to hear it was an easy fix for a couple of you guys.

A possible engine fire would be scary indeed. Yikes!

Still hasn't come back on (still knocking wood).

Came back on yesterday on my way home from work.

Took it to the dealer this morning (Saturday!) and got it back the same afternoon!

"Right exhaust camshaft adjuster solenoid intermittent faulty. Performed SDS short test. Fault code 0060 stored in M.E. controller. DTB-S-B-03.30/08f."

So much for the loose gas cap theory.
