Painted My Trim.

Whats up people. I went ahead and painted my trim because i hate wood and the dealer wants to charge 2500.00 for a new trim so i went to my buddies body shop and painted it with him. Let me know what you think.

Personally I have no clue why someone would want to paint over nice high quality wood with cheap black paint. You lost alot of interior contrast too.

To each their own though, if you enjoy the environment your sitting in when operationg the car more, who's anyone to tell you what you shouldn't do.

I guess the more important questions is.... why on earth would you paint the trim INSIDE the car instead of pulling all the trim, sanding it, priming it, painting it and then applying a clear coat?!

You couldn't replace it with aftermarket carbon fiber?

That is what I was thinking. The picture is blurry and it looks decent but again why did you do it in the car?! Your vents must be full of that dust you see in body shops all the time

Why spray inside the car? You lost $4G on resale, IMHO. I think there are after-market trim suppliers that may have had the look you were going for.

Of course, I hope all those switches and everything else with electrical contacts in the cabin isn't screwed up with overspray!

I think you really messed up a nice E350. But, in the end, it's your car, so enjoy it with your mods.

I'm stunned. I have never seen anything like this done. WOW. Do you really hate wood that much? Gorgeous, glossy wood.

not really something I would do, but I would like to see some better pictures of that trim and some of the entire interior just to see if it looks good.

I would love to see a carbon fibre trim kit for our cars. I'm not crazy about the wood either...

i will take pics tomorrow, I took all my trim out and sent it to axis power racing in st louis missouri they charged me well under half of what carbon kits are going for and the results were great to say the least.Oh by the way it was real carbon overlaying on my original burlwood so fit and finish was oem.not that sticky crap people put on hondas.

Wow,Mike,it looks okay, but when you plan to sell it you'll have to look for someone whose taste is unique as yours. Good Luck with your totally black interior. Maybe you should have queried the members here before you made your move...

Yes, please post some pics when you have a chance. Can you buy carbon fibre interior kits? I tried searching online but couldn't find anything. Most were the stick-on stuff.

To each his own, but my opinion fwiw (you did ask) is that what you did was awful looking, the way you did it (painting in the car) was a bad choice, and you will, as others have noted, lose thousands on resale or trade. We are safe in assuming this is a car you own and not lease? To do this on a leased car would be extremely unwise to say the least.
