CLS wheels on an E350?
Does anyone know if its possible to put CLS wheels on an E350? I searched old threads and found that the 19inch CLS55/ CLS63 wheels may rub but what about the stock CLS 500 / CLS 550 wheels? For example:
Wheel Size/Offset fronts:18x8.5 plus 28 mm, rears:18x9.5 plus 33 mm
Tire Sizes fronts-245/40/VR18 rears-275/35/VR18
Has anyone tried these? If you have pics, please post.
Thanks.

Its for my girlfriends car and she has a non-sport package E350 with the ugly stock 5 spoke 17s (bought it before I knew her). The stock 18s are nice but I thought it might look kinda funny to just add those wheels without the rest of the sport package. I was hopping the CLS wheels would be a subtle upgrade without looking totally out of place.
So did they rub the fenders? Do you have any pics?

I guess just by being a resident of Beverly Hills does not constitute a reading comprehension. If you read the above post closely it clearly states that it wont be a perfect fitment and you will have rubbing issues unless you do some adjusting.
Yes, CLS wheels will work fine. I've got these 18" CLS wheels mounted on my 2005 E320. Staggered setup, 8.5"-fronts & 9.5"-rears. No rubbing. Actually, my E320 is lowered 1" via Bilstein coilovers. If you're interested, I'm selling these CLS wheels cheap.

looks just like my wheels
Go for it JBruce. Buy them off Seahonu if they have not been "curbed". The rubber is expensive though and they do tram-line.

I have the staggered CLS AMG55 wheels on my car... 8.5 front 9.5 rear (these are much wider than a standard AMG E)
275/35 zr18
245/40 zr18
the offset is 5mm off on the CLS vs a standard E but it looks pretty awesome and I've had no issues with paint flake from stuff flying up.
my wheels are staggered and some people have commented that it would cause damage to the 4matic system.. I have put 30K on the car with the setup cept for winter driving when I use the original 17s and Dunlop snows.
At 26K the front diff was replaced under warranty by MB..(it is a known issue with 05 cars) ... I have had no other issues...(I have PS2s on the car and the rolling rates differences between front and rear are not enough to cause issue with the system)
but....... my car is an air suspensioned car with 3 settings..
* the car rides pretty crappy unless the system is set to Sport II.. you get a floppy feeling without sport II ...Keeping it in Sport II.. the car is awesome.. albeit isn't an AMG as I wish it was!
* the car follows the camber of the highway causing you to think that your alignment is out (even though it isn't)
* tires are expensive... $1200 ... I have had 4 blowouts under normal driving.
I wouldn't install anything beyond 17s unless you have Air suspension and can utilize the stiffer settings.
The steel chassis cars (especially the Diesels) do not have the bushings or setup to utilize the traction and weight of the bigger wheels.. you will just get a crappy and harsh ride.
what I would do the next time around.. is simply consider buying the front wheels off of a CLS AMG as they are 8.5 with the nice offset and running 245/40 18s all the way around...
just my 2cents..

I'm staying away from AMG style wheels because the car does not have the sports package bumper covers and I think that AMG wheels look a little funny without the rest of the package. The stock CLS wheels are pretty subtle. Thanks for the pics. Does anyone have a 3/4 shot of the rear showing the wheel relative to the rear fender? Thanks.
RE: CLS Wheels
I also have the staggered CLS 5 spoke wheels on my car...could not stand the twin 10 spokes that came with the 07 and 08 cars, they were just too pesky to clean. I did however keep the original wheels/tires in storage for trade in time.
Mine are 18 X 8.5 front 18 X 9.5 rear (1/2 inch wider over the standard E sport wheels front and rear)
Tires: Michelin Pilot all season vr speed rated
275/35 vr18 (rear)
245/40 vr18 (front)
They look nice without being cheesy, the offset is 10mm front and 12mm rear further out, they clear the wheelwells perfectly, and have caused no issues of any kind in over a year of driving.
They will work just fine on your car, see enclosed a pic.

Hey, i also just fitted these CLS wheels on my w211, but the rear sits a lot lower than yours and when the car is full the tires are rubbing fenders. I have new shocks and springs installed. Do you know how could i possibly raise them ? Thanks.
