Mercedes GL 320 CDI 2008-04
Hi ,
I changed comand Ntg2 to Ntg2,5 in my mercedes GL car, every function is good , but not have sound.
In old Comand have Logic 7 , Logic7 Surround and all works well.
I have Logic 7 in New Comand ,but I can not choose, because back
when the menu Logic 7 again OFF !

New comand :A-164 870 49 94 Comand APS Ntg 2.5
I went to the mercedes servicing, which he said not possible recoding SDS !
In old Comand have Logic 7 , Logic7 Surround and all works well.
I have Logic 7 in New Comand ,but I can not choose, because back
when the menu Logic 7 again OFF !

Works well : Navigation (no sound), Telefon with bluetooth (no sound), rear wiew back up camera, DVD player (no sound).
No works : ipod and CD changer.
Old comand : A1648202679 Coman APS ntg 2.0No works : ipod and CD changer.
New comand :A-164 870 49 94 Comand APS Ntg 2.5

It works, but not correctly. No HK Logic and center channel sounds terrible. Also phone/nav volume is very faint, and max audio volume is not too loud. w204 is NGT4, you are better off buying the factory w211 amp (I ended up doing this).....MBenzNL had a very fair price....

expensive job and toy,but you can remove the old amplifire and install
new cables in to the new unit and the will be work fine .
Plus you have reprograming the unit for normal system ,not 7logic.

Question, how much does the NGT 2.5 cost? I keep reading about it and wondering if I can retrofit one to my 06 SL? I am afraid that if I spend the money, I won't get much other than a better navigation map. How about the ipod adaptor and the bluetooth feature?
I don't want to have an aftermarket unit in the car. I just want to be able control the aformentioned items with one head unit.

Ofcourse you can do other conversion however you will have to take your car apart to install new harnesses needed.
Some STAR programming (developer edition needed -no official dealer has this) will be needed after the conversion
With regards to cables Frank at http://www.kabeldaviko.de/ will be able to help you. He has got all the cables you would ever need.

So w audio 20 cd and hk will the adapter alone will provide sound an function to all features? I don't need to replace existing amp or anything? Also do I need programming for the sound to work or is it optional to just get cluster to work?

However your current HK amp (AGW) will NOT work with NTG2.5. You need to buy a new HK amplifier
Frank of Kabeldaviko will help you choose the correct harness (set of cables)

Hello, any updates on this retrofit ? Simplified ? 07 to 09 command ?
before you start this conversion...do you have HK sound? do you have access to stardiagnose with developer mode? do you care about the stowage compartment underneath the radio to open? Do you have an Ipod kit?
if one has a bonestock european W211 with an audio20, this is such an easy conversion...if one has a pretty full optioned car with HK sound, TV tuner, Ipod kit, phone - this conversion starts to become a lot of swapping of components and rewiring the HK sound amplifier requires changing connectors and pins.
Once the 2009 comand is installed in a pre 2009 W211 it can not be accessed with the regular stardiagnose...the stowage compartment (CD changer) can not be openend anymore with the 2009 comand...the Ipod kit (and interface) is different...the TV tuner is different...TV/DVD while in motion requires an aftermarket adapter...UHI/MHI phone is different and becomes BT operated (not a problem for most people but I always have my phone cradled)...antenna connectors are all different and have to be run to the front instead of to the trunk...and so on.
The 2009 comand does communicate with the IC and steering wheel perfectly.
