Evosport underdrive pulley for the M113 V8
Has anyone on here installed one of these on their E500? I'm considering the Evosport setup but wanted some first hand feedback from people who have installed one.
Here's the one I'm considering:
http://www.evosport.com/product/prod...VO.PER.MV8.PK1
Website states up to 12hp, but on our N/A V8's, I'm not buying it.
Anyone?

Yeah, I certainly understand that a cheaper setup could, and probably has caused problems for people in the past, on their past cars. I'm specifically asking about the Evosport setup on an M113 engine. I can't even count the number of W211 E55 guys who have them on their cars with no problems. Even though E55K's are on the M113 platform, we all know that they're more than a tiny bit different.
From what I can tell, Evosport is one of the best in the business as far as pulleys go.
So, nobody with this setup?

well while i have no experience with evosport so im not knocking theyre products by any means i have run unorthodox pulleys in the past, which in no means are of low quality, the concept is basically the same slow down the accessories i.e alternator, water pump,p/s pump in order to reduce parasitic drag on the crank thereby freeing up a few ponies.

RE: Evosport Pulley
From my experience, aside from product quality, the one area to be cautious about with aftermarket pulleys is that they turn the alternator and waterpump fast enough at idle so as not to discharge the battery in traffic on a rainy night and/or cause the engine to overheat in traffic on a hot August afternoon. Provided these items are sorted for the M113 engine, I would estimate about 5-7 HP, but every little bit helps.
You just might end up with a record for the fastest NA stock internal E500 at the rate you are going.
If I still lived in Maryland, I think you'd appreciate the new toy I picked up last week, not a Benz, but a better package vs. C63 for the same dough. I can't wait to see what a pully change will do for it after break in.

I think I may hold the record already (13.49@102.5). Not that it's fast, it's just that not that many people really do HP mods on these things. It's just so expensive for not much gain. It's so much smarter and cheaper to go with a stock W211 E55 than mod out an E500. But I've never been mistaken for anyone smart or cheap.

Anyway, just hung up the phone with sales at Evosport. You're pretty much on target with the 6-8 RWHP gain from the pulley setup. So, it's $379.00 + 3hour installation ($300.00) = 679.00 or so, for 6-8 RWHP. Or you can do the install yourself. But efff that, it's 9* outside right now.
This is why I'm the only E500 on dragtimes.com

Car goes in for secondary cat removal and x-pipe installation tomorrow.

Good to see you around, David. Are you gonna become a sponsor here, too?
For those that don't know, David and D.C. Designs are the ones responsible for the current look of my car. They did a great job on the AMG conversion and painting my roof black.
Still get compliments almost daily.
