What year is the car, it will determine if you need 229.3 or 229.5
Also, it depends on whether or not you have DPF, that will determine if it is 229.5 or 229.51

Without DPF, 229.3/5, like Liqui Moly Diesel Synthoil (229.3) or Synthoil High Tech 229.5
With DPF, 229.51, like Castrol EDGE Formula RS

The above oils are available in Germany, but if you tell us where you are, you should get more tailored responses.

The make of the oil and those numbers are not important. You must use oil with a 229.51 approval from MB if your car has a particle filter (DPF), without particle filter, 229.5. This number will be on the bottle somewhere.

If you would like, send me the identification number of the car and I can tell you if it has a particle filter.

So the tipe of oil depends from this DPF filter number, right? It's some kind of catalyst as gasoline engine, isn't it? It's a pity but i couldn't give you the number of DPF right now!!! What obout in general? Is the oil depends from the weather season or................? Thank you!!!

The DPF does not have a number, I asked for the VIN because I could determine from that wheter or not your car is equipped with a DPF.

If you have a DPF, you need the 229.51 oil , the 1 at the end indicates the oil is low in additives that could damage the filter.

If the car does not have DPF, you can use 229.5 oil.

Remember, his car was built in September of 2004, making it what we would call a 2005 model. This is why I said 229.51
